Awkward bedroom layout

Part II

This is the ensuite bedroom. The red walls need to go in my opinion to brighten the room. Any suggestions on colour and furniture layout would be greatly appreciated x

As always with small rooms, opt for a very light colour to make it appear bigger. But that doesn't mean going for standard white - I would choose a light grey, pale mushroom or a dusty pink. Add a statement pendant light (I would suggest glassy and silvery to create reflection/ increase light), something like this: http://www.roseandgrey.co.uk/bell-blown-glass-pendant-light-small-or-large.

If you put your bed horizontally across the back of the room, you'll enough floor space before it. Alternatively you could put the back of the bed against the back wall i.e. so the bed faces into the room. If you got a small double it looks as though you would have enough room for a small bedside table on one side of the bed and a free standing lamp on the other? Also, I think a bed without a headboard is perfect as it makes it feel less clunky in a compact room like this.

Place a large free standing mirror against the back of the opposite wall (if you come in and turn right, that back wall), so that it faces into the room / this will create the illusion of a bigger space and add more light. Then you have a little dressing area too.

Finally I would add a corner shelf unit in that little space to the left of the entrance door, otherwise it's just dead space. You can put accessories on the shelves too i.e. a little cactus or a small statement bowl. If you don't need more shelves/storage then a plant would also look nice in this space.

We did look at doing that originally with the aechitext but the upstairs has an open staircase so it cuts up a lot of room and would cost hundreds to stud it all out and put in and plaster the walls and put windows in :0( Plus I have a dressing area at the top of the landing where a window is ( the only window light that could come from upstairs is a north facing side window) so I might lose some of this. Overall it wouldn’t give us anything except showing the stairs in the hallway ie no cloakroom and a smaller upstairs with a lot of cost. We understand the hall is small and that’s just as the house was built so it’s one of those things. It’s just trying to use what is there as my OH wont spend any extra on things he deems aren’t fundamental now, lol.

Don’t have dimensions but the en suite looks larger than it needs to be. I would move the wall between bedroom and en suite back a few feet then you could have wardrobe storage space along the bedroom side of the new stud wall. As building a new stud wall you could have a pocket door and I would put the bed and bedside tables as in the diagram above facing the window. In the ensuite I would make the shower as wide as possible stretching between the new stud wall and the exterior window wall and put the toilet and basin side-by-side along the window wall

Hi- as a very quick suggestion, I would put a shallow bookcase on the left hand side of the window, then run a long shelf over the radiator all the way along the radiator. (You may wish to get a radiator cover too). Then I would put wall hooks underneath the shelf. The children will soon be able to reach and use both, giving them a place to put toys and hang up their own coats or dressing up costumes.
