Help! cant figure out sitting room layout?
Comments (4)Hi Phil, There is so much to consider to get spatial planning right. With out clients, for this room, we would take lots into account including what's outside those lovely windows, the position of lightings (natural and artificial), how you and other people use and move around the space, what already exists in the space and how all of the elements interact with each other. I think you need to have a real play around with all those points and maybe try printing the plan out, cutting out furniture pieces and putting it together like a jigsaw to think about the pieces individually. Take advantage of those windows and other elements you like in the space. Alternatively we, and propably many other interior designers, offer services for spacial planning or consulting services which will ensure the space is truly fit and funcational for your needs. I wish you all the best and do keep us posted on the finished room! :)...See MoreNeed help with flooring fr my new kitchen/dining/sitting room
Comments (6)Marble would still work well in all those areas - luxurious and dramatic! A couple of points to take care with: - Take care if you're option for high gloss, as they can be slippery when wet - If you're opting for a very "white" marble (Carrara or some such), be prepared for it to show every dirty mark and need regular cleaning. If your lifestye can cope with this great - if you have three labrodors and live in a pair of Hunter wellies, I'd urge caution.......See MoreNeed help with my sitting room
Comments (2)Create a trend board. Look at everything that inspires you and group about 3 or 4 things together to include a fabric you might have seen, colours you like or perhaps a colour of an item you are keeping like a favourite chair or fireplace. Consider what flooring you might like or, if like me you have children and pets, what is practical!. Is it a sunny room where a crystal chandelier would sparkle day or night or one that faces north that might need some extra light? Lots to consider but fun gathering all the ideas together. Start anywhere. Once you have started the ideas will come gushing out!...See MoreNeed help with my Layout for my new side and rear extension
Comments (14)Hi Imran, Very exciting to be starting your project! I'm not going to make any suggestions on how to layout your space as I'm not an expert but having just gone through a very similar process I thought a few words of advice might be helpful? We were looking at remodelling the downstairs of our house and got structural engineers and architects involved but to be honest it was our designer who was the most help and has stopped us making a couple of silly and costly mistakes with space planning (nothing to do with colours, paint choices or curtains!!!) I would highly recommend working with someone who can do some 3D models and renders of the proposed space for you, so you can see how it will all look. Our designer was amazing and we ended up with 4 or 5 different computer generated 3D images (and YouTube videos!!!) of how the space would look as you walked around it. Not only was it amazingly helpful but she also saved us a lot of money on structural work by pointing out things that would have been costly and not really add anything to the space. I've attached a couple of pics of our space and then the 3D images she did for us. Structural work and remodelling is expensive and our designer (Gina from Create Perfect) was a fraction of what we're spending on the house (far less than I would have expected) and has been worth her weight in gold for getting the space right! I was also surprised by the amount of money we saved using her trade discounts for things like worktops, appliances, carpeting and lighting etc) We're in the middle of building work right now, so I can't post any finished pics but my advice would definitely be to spend a little bit of money now and make sure you get it right as the wrong decisions with walls and structures are mistakes you can't change without a lot more time and money! Good luck whatever you do- it's all very exciting!!!...See More- bahhadi_1 thanked Equilibrando... Space Planning with Feng Shui
