Comments (7)I think it can work, but perhaps there's an option of an enclosure that has lesser amount if chrome details. Below is an example of two different finishes used alongside. I know it's an enclosure you can't have, but just to visualise the principle. https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/simpsons-design-quadrant-single-hinged-door-shower-enclosure-3-size-options?campaign=googlebase&PS2PVV1=4511&gclid=CjwKCAjw-OHkBRBkEiwAoOZqlx12MfkjzrD3FwbfqA2Bhdt_2NRVwoa-js2NvS9oO0-nVzelFKtJ-RoCrv4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds...See MoreReconfiguring space to fit a nursery and home office
Comments (10)I would, in no small way, be miffed that the architects incorporated a communal space without first checking they could! A basic oversight. I agree with Kingfisher. If this is a short term fix, meaning you don’t want to spend too much, then moving the staircase for such little gain seems to be throwing good money away. It looks like you could still have just about everything you require without moving the staircase. When I say just about I mean not to have an en-suite (you mention it but I cannot see it on your plan). On the lower ground you have room for the master bedroom and nursery with one bathroom. Your proposal to build a wall to make the nursery smaller, thereby continuing the corridor to the door, solves your cat flap problem and can still be done with the stairs where there are. I agree that you should remove that internal door and small wall in the hall. It would open out the space and let in more light. On the raised ground level again your plan is good and can be achieved whilst leaving the stairs well alone. You have indicated that you want the study to also serve as a third bedroom. I imagine this is for occasional guests so would primarily be a study. Have you heard of Murphy beds? They are an ingenious way to utilise your space to its fullest where the bed is stored vertically inside a cupboard. studybed.com is just one site of many that offer other combinations of transformational furniture. The studybed is a desk that folds out into a bed. That leaves your good proposal to convert the living room into the kitchen/living room and yes I would move the front door....See MoreHelp! Can we fit a bath AND shower in our tiny bathroom?
Comments (7)Dear Charlotte, the best option to buy shower pan and rail with a curtains , or to build one, instead of the bathtub. Here just examples , what to look for. The shower head it in the highest position now, its means if we take bath out we have more height to the floor. I have same made at home if you be interested I will add my shower pictures. Here last one is example, easy to build separation wall somewhere 3-5 cm, with a good drainage and no problem water from shower moves fast. The best wishes ....See MoreWhere could i fit a bathroom upstairs?
Comments (12)Looking at the ground floor (which I know you haven't asked about!), I'd be tempted to keep the loo and turn part of the kitchen into a utility and then have the kitchen in the space where the current bath and reception one are and open plan to dining room area where it is currently. That would mean you wouldn't have to move the soil stack (and could possibly lay the upstairs out so the loo up there was against the same wall) and would gain a utility which is handy to hide stuff away if you go more open plan....See MoreEmma Clare
