Kitchen extraction vents in side of bulkhead a goer?

Hello, so we're in the middle of an open plan kitchen/dining/living extension. We will have a large island with an induction hob on it however, directly above where the hob will be is a large steel bulkhead that runs along the length of the island.

I'm quite keen on a flush to ceiling extractor which I'm guessing require us to build a false ceiling around the steel to accommodate. But my parter really wants us to explore vents that sit vertically along the side of the steel bulkhead over the island length (the side facing the kitchen, not the living areas) as he thinks this option is the most discreet.

I think it'll look good too but have no idea about how I'd go about sourcing this less conventional option other than to try commercial kitchen organisations. Plus this more bespoke option, if it's even possible, sounds like it'll be expensive and at the end of our build...budget is running pretty tight!

So my questions are does anyone have experience of a similar unconventional extraction facility in their domestic kitchen and if so where they sourced the appliance and labour. Or if anyone has any advice about either method including recommendations on unit brand and any specialist fitters? We'd most likely duct out any extraction unit we use.

Thanks in advance for any comments!
