Need help on style of porch and front door!
Comments (103)Thanks so much everyone - this has been great. Sorry for the lack of response - been flat out!!!! It must be hard for you American guys to work on such old English designs.... The ideas have gradually culminated into what really would look good on the house. Ourfarmhouse - these are absolutely great ideas, and thanks Everything Beautiful for getting the jist and putting the ideas onto the house image - nothing like seeing an actual design on your own home. We've got an architech working on it, and he's keen on the iron-wrought idea... but we're not sure. Basically toss-up with this and Everything Beautiful's design (2 above). Going with a four-pannel door, but would like to incorporate some glass somewhere! Possibly a panel above with the house name engraved on it?? Victoria - absolutely right...! We don't need to sit outside with the weather.......... say no more! Just wanting something to cover yourself while you're unlocking the door. We've also done a tour of the local areas, and found a couple of porches - amazing what you find right on your doorstep! Will attach pics shortly......See MoreWhat colour front door?!
Comments (17)Hi there! We have one of the largest ranges of doors in designs, colours and features in the UK. I'm not sure if you have gone ahead with your door order with your rennovation but this looks like a great project we would like to be part off. We are so flexible in design we can assure we can make any door to suit your taste, with fantastic range of wood finishes which are all powder coated aluminium. I hope your rennovation project has gone well for you! Kind regards, Elliot...See MoreHelp with colour for exterior render and new front door.....
Comments (16)Thank you Colorhappy, I was secretly hoping you would comment as you clearly know all about colour, something I definitely struggle with a little. I think your suggestion of a stone colour for the render and a green blue for the doors would look lovely, and I love the idea of it relating to the greenery in the garden. Do you have any suggestions for a stone colour? I have looked at F&B for the green/blue, they have a paint actually named green/blue, but I am not sure if this is too much of a literal interpretation of your advice :-) I also like the oval room blue too, do you think this could work? I love Stiffkey blue, but not sure if this is too rich/deep a colour and would end up looking dark? The front of the house faces north but still gets lots of great light, the house is elevated somewhat so it is never in shadow if that makes any difference to our choice of colour?...See Morewhat colour front door?
Comments (7)CD and Sonia - thanks for your lovely comments. I’m definitely not bold! The other houses in the estate are white rendered properties and no one else has the porch so not able to compare to see what things would look like but I’ll probably be demonised if i did anything strong! . The sage options look worth exploring. Didn’t even think of green hues - was so fixated on thinking of variations of the grey/ brown theme. I did think pale blue as you see a lot of designs that put brown and blue / turquoise together but my husband is totally against that option . I’ve been pouring over the RAL colour chart as I have to link it to those . RAL 7038 looks similar. The front of the house is south facing so in the day it is a bit lighter . Other ideas on that theme RAL 7030, RAL 7032 , RAL 7035, RAL 7038, RAL7044. My husband thinks RAL 7036, RAL 7004 which are definitely greyer. Could get very expensive with tester pots!...See Morekarenslater261162
