North facing dining room - what colour?
Comments (20)@ensignaccesories no, I meant Dulux Natural Taupe, it's available on different tones. I've seen the taupe you mentioned, but I found it too dark. I've had a change of hearts about the wallpaper after I was told that that one is actually a very old design and Laura Ashley no longer stocks it. Also talking to the lady at LA I realised that trying to force my idea of grey/beige is probably not the best for this particular room, but what I need is something more cheerful and bright, like the green colour I already have in my living room (accessories) . So with this in mind, I headed to John Lewis and took a few samples of green wallpaper. When I stuck them onto the wall next to one I had originally liked, I could see a big difference in the mood of the whole room, it didn't feel as gloomy as with the other grey colours. So, what do you think? Using something like these examples on the front wall? i still need to find what colour to pain the other walls, though. Thanks!...See MoreDo warm grey paint colours exist?
Comments (8)Hello Maxine, I have to say I love grey... The article above is a good source of visual stimulus if you have not gone down the grey route before.. I even suggest going down the charcoal route too... I think grey is a warm and enveloping colour and if you team it with vibrant pieces, accents of gold or copper which are really fantastic... as are rich yellows and burnt oranges... :)) lamp black little greenescree little greene...See MoreWarm greys?
Comments (10)Laura ashley dove grey, home base colours putty, farrow & ball elephant breath and cornforth white, dulux egyptian cotton, just walnut and khaki mist, etc. There are a lot of options available for greige paints, but it all depends on the undertone (red, brown, blue, etc.) you want and natural light available....See MoreWarm greys
Comments (6)Hello Helen, Well the grey you use is very much dependent on how much light you have. So without any further information, I would also suggest having a look at Little Greene who do very nice chalky paint that has a dense finish. Also earthy greys with hints of brown are rather nice.. Consider too what they will be siting with.. Whitening again by LG is another lovely chalky creamy white that is gr8 for ceilings.. Get some sample pots and paint onto squares of A4.. When dry you can place them where you're considering the colour and also put them next to any additional colours you may be using. Light levels change and so will the appearance of your chosen colour.. : ))...See Moreclairef09
