Help with color scheme for kitchen.
Comments (2)With grey shaker cabinets and white metro tiles the world is your oyster! You could keep it all very neutral or add a splash of colour or pattern to the floor. Browse the photos on Houzz to find some kitchens you like and you'll soon see what styles you are drawn to. I'd recommend a light colour for the worktop as dark ones tend to show up every tiny crumb so you'll be constantly wiping it down. In terms of lighting, it's so important to make sure the lighting works well for you. Make sure you have plenty of light in front of you on the work surfaces. Go for quirky wall lights or a row of little pendants, or if you have wall cabinets then opt for under cabinet lighting. Then you can choose a statement pendant in the middle to give general light to the room and acts more as a feature than practical lighting. Get in touch if you'd like more advice on tiles, colours or lighting plans. Good luck!...See MoreVote for your favourite film-inspired interior!
Comments (1188)The NewYork apartment in the movie 'Down With Love' is my personal favourite. Sunken, circular longe, lofty spiralling staircase and that view! I'd change up the colour scheme, a bit too pink for my tastes. Or even it out by spending time at the equally stunning, James Bond-esque bachelor pad, with its wood tones and blue velvet goodness. Comments (43)I thought I'd update everyone as to what we settled on as most of you won't have seen the finished post. Went went for Little Greene French Pale Grey on the walls and then a Grey Quartz worktop which had worked quite well. To stop it from being clinical, we opted for some textured wallpaper in the dining area which is Bala Storm (I think) from John Lewis. We then added some natural tones using a wooden table, and then Vitra chairs. Along with wooden fruit bowl etc. The main window will have wooden venetian blinds, and the bay windows will probably be done in a darker grey material as the perfect fit style blinds you find in conservatories...See MoreColor Placement for 2 Storey Reno.
Comments (8)Hello ericah162, Where in the world are you or the house in question? I ask this as it may be nice to look at the environment before considering a colour, as it may dictate a style or colour.. Climate too.... With the style of house as per your image, it could work in a variety of ways... From a green grey should you choose to go dark which is gr8 with foliage! Equally too are earthy colours with hints of brown, browns and ochres.. If you really want to aim for a lighter scheme shades of stone and other off whites... One thing I would suggest is to consider texture! A textured facade is a beautiful facade.. Another idea of course is that you may have something architectural that can benefit from a more dramatic colour/finish thus picking out it's particular design... Perhaps mix materials for a dramatic aesthetic which always looks fabulous with foliage! Have a look at these and consider how they might inspire the decision process.. : )) Textured block (Frank Lloyd Wright) Beautiful in their design today as when they were built... All of them! (of course not all these are just cladding or render but they are meant to be inspirational and illustrate my suggested textural element) Concrete finish offers beautiful smoother but textured finish.. Textural render on a larger scale with wood as a second material Multiple, mixed materials.. I rather like the structural aesthetic here picked out in the stone.
