Design trend stick or twist - Black bathroom brassware?

I'm upgrading my bathroom and ensuite and love black taps, showers etc and experienced them at a trendy hotel recently so I'm confident I'd be happy longterm with them and I'd like to use design features that will last. We're not planning on moving for at least 3-5 years but I am conscious of resale appeal. Do you see this being the norm in 2020 and would you be put off buying a house with black taps and shower??

Comments (11)I am a tiler and I used all kind of tiles and mosaics. Best advice ,as your corner shower will be around 800/800mm ,get porcelain tiles . In London,European Heritage sells porcelain with carrara marble print (white and greish veins gloss shiny finish or other color options) at 795/795mm. That would mean about 3 tiles per wall. around 240 the whole set of tiles with only 2 horizontal grout lines. For best results,use Mapei grout(you can find it even at B&Q nowdays. Comments (26)I predict there will be a continued appetite for pale/ white interiors which will fuel innovative ways of delivering this with more finishes and layered whites for interest. I think kitchen cabinets will stay pale but be available in silk or two textured finishes as they move away from gloss and lacquered finishes. Available woods will become paler and more Nordic. I think we will see more textured wall finishes such as wall panels and I think lighting will become more sophisticated allowing us to select warm or cool white from our lighting sources depending on outside light levels and time of day. I think the new metal will be burnished brass and available in kitchen handles, light switches and accessories. I predict a warm summer and inevitably greater spend on outside living with French chic plates and glasswear and more solutions to keep us in the garden with increased choices of patio heaters and soft lighting to enjoy lazy summer evenings and cooler mornings. Comments (20)Hi Susi! I'm a designer for Bathroom Eleven and we specialise in interior design and bathroom design. Perhaps you can introduce a new texture to liven it up a bit. A few ideas I've listed below but not all to be used in conjunction with each other :) Here they are: - Change the bath panel to a wood effect style and match with some wooden accessories - a shelf, a framed mirror - Paint the wall behind the mirror or wallpaper - or even perhaps change to a bespoke mirror to fill that whole space - On the bespoke mirror idea, mirror half the space above the basin, and then have some matching shelving in a wood texture to match the bath panel - Change the floor to Amtico or Vinyl in a wood effect - Change the basin to one with a storage unit underneath - Plants! Bring some outdoors, in. A big current trend and some plants that thrive in bathroom environments will bring colour and natural life into that room. - Mosaic or feature tile the wall behind the mirror and cabinet to a complimentary blend between the floor and wall tile - Art work - you have a nice, tall, space next to the WC - artwork is always a lovely way to bring colour into the room. I will eventually be redoing a bathroom (had planned to do it this year, but gas price rises have made me decide to install a wood burner instead). 7 years agoBlack brassware is a great option for creating a contemporary look, but chrome is a safer option if you want to sell your home in the future. You could choose fixtures that combine black and chrome so you have the best of both, for example this Hudson Reed shower valve:
