Comments (43)Hi Candace, I just finished looking at your previous posts. I should have done this before I commented before. You have been busy! lol..I too agree with previous comment of I think you are more drawn to cool colors. I find cool colors can evoke a lot of energy, so maybe why they draw you in, lol. When I see your hallway, the flooring looks greyish and cool to me, (but you say its going to be changed anyway) but the other wood looks warm. I too would like it painted white, but you can decide that when new flooring/kitchen done etc. Sounds like you are leaning toward the Elmira White for walls, and I think warm green and purple accents might tie in with the hallway. Comments (1300)For me it’s maximalism. Lovely in a quirky cafe or boutique hotel but at home it would give me a headache. I like a restful house and so yes quite a lot of it is grey! Not battleship grey or anthracite but bluey or greeny greys. Concrete floors. Depressing, cold, ecologically not great, look unfinished. Plants very high up. How do you water them? Walk in wardrobes even if it means the bedroom becomes tiny. I’d rather have a bigger bedroom with wardrobes in it, than dress and sleep in tiny spaces. Uber industrial. There’s a reason we usually hide cables, conduits, vent ducts...because they are ugly. Buying new furniture and accessories very often to have an “up to date“ look. I see all these instagram pictures with everything brass, mid century, wood, rattan, green (today’s trends) and I wonder what has happened to all their grey, painted, silver, shabby chic items from 5/10 years ago. And what will they do with today’s items when the look swings round again......See MoreWin a colour room makeover by Dulux and a weekend away! - CLOSED
Comments (213)With much excitement the Dulux panel, after reviewing all the creative entries for the Colour Picker competition, have selected their winner! ‘Summer in Cornwall’ is a beautiful and calming collection of muted blues. The use of tonal colour is very on trend and also features Denim Drift- The Dulux colour of the year! The title of the collection, ‘Summer in Cornwall’, the styling of the selected room set and the combination of the restful blue colour palette, echoes the recurring theme of our 2017 Colour Futures trends, about yearning for real experiences, the importance of treasuring simple and genuine things in life and re-connects us with mother nature’s very own colour palette....See MoreDark boys bedroom- help needed
Comments (12)I agree with Jonathan about the blind, it is stealing light. Low ikea cube shelving units are good with stacked clear lidded boxes from Rymans for storing lego. I would also suggest a bed base with space underneath as you can get long narrow boxes that can be stored under beds and tucked away. This means the messy clutter aspect of lego can be hidden making space for displaying their finished models. Although he is young now, I would say that investing in bespoke flexible storage may be something that is used for years to come. Our house was actually chosen in part to accommodate lego and drum kits, so determined was I to have spaces for creative play rather than just gadgets which is often the norm. On the subject of colour, dark rooms tend to benefit from two approaches - either paint in a lighter reflective (but slightly warm) paint, and/or inject some saturated colour. Subtlety is often lost in these situations so something like a wall of bright orange (maybe the window wall) would give a bit of focus to the room and connect with all of his toys and bits and bobs. Also habitat do bedding in such a bright orange you need sunglasses, this could be used in conjunction with his duvet cover. These are shelves in my son's room, very simple and not costly to have built....See Morecathetmelou
