My works are digitally printed on fabric or metal panels and all works sold are originals. The fabric works are finished with a slimline aluminium frame and look like paintings. The metal works are not framed and have been designed to hang free floating off the wall. Both styles of art are non reflective and are highly contemporary in design. I ship worldwide.

Do you have a photo of what the aluminium frame looks like close up? And can you give me an idea of the cost for about 1800 wide x 1200 h

Hello Claudia, Speaking from an art on walls point of view, I'm loving the challenge, so I present a few choice pieces for the wall above your two armchairs that I think will be a happy compliment to your existing decor and furnishings: As regards the picture above your piano, the colours work well with your room but you don't like the subject, right? If that's the case, this consideration will have to be a decision based on what subject(s) you really like or are quite sentimental to, as opposed to colour matching an art piece just to fit in with the rest of the room. If you do play the piano, musicians are very sentimental people, so you want something above the piano that you can "feel and connect to" when you're sitting there playing. It has to be sentimental to you, irrespective of what it is and what colour it may be, and not to consider it as part of the rooms overall decor. As someone who taught Textile design on a degree course (before retirement) and prior to that worked in a famous national gallery, I have extremely eclectic taste. I have work painted by myself, work collected from other artists, limited edition prints, framed ephemera, and even two very large antique Victorian watercolors in gold frames - which I wouldn't probably buy these day, but do provide a bit of "weight" and gravitas in rooms. I like to put them against ultra modern lighting and pieces of furniture to give a bit of edge and conversely, put modern art against a couple of pieces of antique furniture we have.

Hi csg1 - I'm in nearly the same position. First house I own, Victorian Terrace and I'm looking for prints / art to stick on the wall. There's nothing wrong with Ikea or other large retailers but a lot of their stuff is a bit obvious for me (of course it's designed to appeal to a wide audience) and reminds me a bit to much of furnished rental homes. As Lampert Dias says it does depend on where you are - I'd check out what artists you have locally (through galleries or open studio events) but try to see if you can buy from them direct. Artists like Julia Dumbarton that I like often produce their own prints and frame them for you - they're not a lot more expensive than the big retailers. If you're in the UK then you can also check out the National Galleries and Societies, many of them have their own cutom print facilities. Tate Galleries, The National Portrait Gallery, Royal Society (scientific prints from them are great of birds, plants, butterflys etc.) or the prints from national collections of photography, science and society. Then the other day I found the Saatchi Art website which has new artist collections. The originals are mostly way out of my price range but a lot of them also produce framed prints. Haven't bought anything off them yet but it seems a really good source of more unique / unknown / contemporary work. Just remember to if the cost of framing is included - that'll add £50 to a lot of prints.

I like both. There is beauty in both formats and I don't think one can claim ultimate format king over the other. There is a constant push to keep old traditionals going, like the yesteryear look in many images, but there are so many new things you can create only with digital software and prints. The lack of imagination is the ultimate and only reason there is not a greater interest in this new way of expression, as opposed to the tradional way of expressing art which is always focusing on the tangible things, the things we have grown up with and are familiar with: i.e figure painting, flowers and nature, lifeless objects, animals, buildings and architectural, etc. This form of artwork is a direct result of the way people used to think about the world around them at that time. We live in a different society now but the thinking is the same - what affects us now is reflected in many forms of expressions, art namely being one of them, but in the formats that people are used to, familiar with and are growing up with. Appreciating different forms of expressions, originals vs. prints, is to accept and embrace the differences of two worlds. Here is a piece I created many moons ago to illustrate my point.

Thanks for your patience.

Here are some photos of my fabric printed artworks, finished in the slimline aluminum frame. As you can see the front of the design dominates the artwork, the frame is secondary and measures about 1.75cm in depth.

The print work is stunning, bold and flawless, and the work looks just like a painting from a distance.

The price for a work measuring 1800cm x 1200cm is around $1200-$1400 for a ready-made design featured on my website or here on Houzz . Commissioned works will be slightly more.
