Outdoor tiles for in and out flooring - 10 cm or 20c m depth?

Hi there

Hoping for some advice on in and out floor tiling depths. We were looking for a range of porcelain tiles which have a matching outdoor range at the thicker depth of 20 cm thinking it would be better to have a more robust tile outside ... but then someone said it's better to put a 10 cm tile outside on a concrete base so you don't get weeds?!

Is this true? Any/all advice/experience appreciated
