Please could you advise how much the Cubus beech desk costs ?

I have an open plan kitchen diner and I am looking for a piece of beech furniture modern design which I can use for a PC and printer but looks stylish. Could you specify exact dimensions and price for Cubus beech desk please ?

The writing desk is 74.1 cm tall, 120 cm wide and 58 cm deep (when closed)
Max load of extendable table top is 20 kg / 44 lb
Max screen size is 26" (max width 62 cm)
Optional 30" screen size writing desk available, overall price is approximately the same

It is a small job but still things can go very wrong. For instance your view on a "quality" window can be different from theirs. What type of insulation? what thickness slab, what reinforcement, what are "adequate" footings? That said it is hard to get these guys to do a full specification e.g. XX brand , XX style window Xmm by Xmm. It would be well worth spending 10% of budget getting it all drawn up and fully specified. There is then less room for error. Fixing it up will be more than what you spend. That is what I would do. Unless you know these guys and are 1001% comfortable get it fully detailed! I would also follow up references they supply and view work completed. I would also get at least 2 other quotes. If you were spending £300 on a jacket you would be really careful about how it is made, finished, lined, cleaning instructions etc. And that is an item in front of you. Your view and their view may be different. Contractors can be unscrupulous so just do all the things you can to reduce risks to you. This is a lot of money for most people so take care or be willing to redo bits - a cracked slab, inadequate footings means everything comes out!. The same people can cost it again and you can compare quotes more accurately.

We're going through the same as you as we are having to replace our very expensive sisal runners with their beautiful black taping after only 5.5 years. Would strongly recommend against sisal anywhere, but particularly on the stairs. Any dirt, spilt drinks, splashes of water result in stains that even professional carpet cleaners cant get out. The pile is too short and it all gets embedded in those lovely ridges. They shrink away from the skirting board quickly because they cant be pinned down like normal carpet so it quickly looks tatty and we're only 3 people including an unusually clean and tidy child. Hello, my previous flat was very similar except your bedroom at the back was the kitchen and your kitchen was a dining room. The main problem with the current layout is when you have very young children and you’re in the kitchen preparing food, you can’t keep and eye on the children or talk to them whilst multi-tasking. If you don’t mind me asking, are all 3 bedrooms currently occupied? If not and only 2 are occupied, I would use the back bedroom as a dining room and can also be used for the kids to play. When you come to sell, depending on how many children you have then, you could always carve up the living room to make a very small bedroom on the left. These flats are great when there are only 2 people, it just gets a bit challenging when the family expands. Also you don’t want to spend too much money renovating if you are going to sell in the future.

There is however no doubt that the individuals sent the first time did not have the skill level to carry out the work, the finish is poor and the original firm need to source better workers to complete your job. However the sympathy of earlier posters and claims they wouldn’t have them back won’t resolve your issues. You need to put your complaints in writing and state what you expect to be done to resolve the issue and a timescale. Don’t forget to send the letter by recorded delivery to prove they received it. In my opinion the complaint should concentrate on the poor tiling and the absence of preparation before decorating rather than the cost of the work which you agreed to at the outset. The CAB are right that you have no legal redress unless you give this company opportunity to resolve the issues first and in fairness by agreeing a fixed fee for work you are likely contractually entitled to call them back for remedial works. You are also right to withhold payment but after their next visit need to be realistic about the expected result- you will no doubt be looking for faults but the expected results should be competent/tidy/smart looking as perfection is unachievable.
