we are closing one of those 2 doors. perhaps the one on the right.

i am not sure if it's a good idea instead to put a wardrobe or a mirror? or to make it only white wall without making changes? any ideas? Thanks

Wait and do one big renovation, or do small ones ASAP?
Comments (6)Hi Sonia This sounds like a very exciting project! When renovating, deciding whether to do it all in one go rather than phasing it it almost always driven by budget. With older houses there's usually surprises along the way so be prepared for that. Before you start on the cosmetic changes you should make sure all the bones of the property (electrics, damp proof, heating, plumbing, etc) are in good order as having to rectify this later is more costly if you have to re-do all the cosmetic work. After that I would look at any structural changes you want to make and factor in the time it takes for any planning requirements. After this you can start to focus on flooring, kitchens, decor etc. The best advice I can give you is not to underestimate the amount of planning involved. The more you do upfront before starting any work the smoother the process will be. Renovating is great fun and very rewarding at the end of the journey but it can also be stressful, overwhelming and consumes an enormous amount of your time and energy! It's also very dirty - there's no way around this! Make sure you have the right professionals in place to support you and your project. Comments (25)Hi, it really does depend on the reclamation yard some are much better than others, I would have a look at a few and dont buy doors which have been sitting outside. I can't see if you have said where you are but just as an example somewhere like Frome reclamation is great, Karl has a fantastic range of doors stripped, labeled with size marked on and ordered by style all ready to go https://www.fromerec.co.uk/reclamation/doors page 6 has Victorian/ Edwardian doors . Also as E D has said have a look on ebay as you never know what might be near you and a good few yards also sell on there. The other thing to watch is that if you do find the perfect doors leave them in the house for a while before hanging and painting to ensure they acclimatize to the humidity and temperature of your home, this may sound like a pain but it will reduce any potential for cracking or shrinkage. Comments (23)yup. so it would be the door in the kitchen then a run of bifolds then a fixed full height window in the dining area. means I can have the central doors open if I want to and the two sides (where we would be sitting - so less of a draft) closed off - or we could just open the two traffic doors (one kitchen and one near the dining room end). As I say, my only concern about centre bi-folds is the fact that we have doors sticking out 1/3 of the length of the patio area - so cutting it off from the kitchen side. Perhaps this is normal and I'm over worrying about it! Like everything else. Comments (74)Wow that looks beautiful, I am jealous of the brick. We wanted a very similar colour brick but the council wouldn’t allow and I didn’t want the red brick so we went with blocks and hopefully crisp render. We started our build towards end of Jan. Double extension, the foundations laid and then had the structural engineer out and final final details drawn up. The ground floor blocks have been laid and the scaffold has gone up so don’t know how long that will take. Our builders seem on track and have said August finish but I think it will be September/October Tani how many bedrooms did you have built and how many rooms downstairs? Also from start date to now what has the time scale been? Xx...See More- PRO
