Dilemma with kitchen area, colour scheme out

Hi! We need help on how to improve the overall look of the kitchen area. My mum were saying the colour coordination is abit wrong & weren't happy with it.

The fridge was a gift for moving into new house but I think the colour doesnt goes well with the kitchen cabinet brown colour.

The white space above the fridge, do you think its wise to cover it up with another additional brown cabinet ? If we do, it wouldnt be the same length with the other cabinet

Shall I instead repaint the wall near to the sink/window area to be other colour so it blend well with the fridge and kitchen cabinet? Or shall I go and look for sticker to stick on the tiles between the upper cabinet & lower cabinet to neutralized the overall appearance? Pls help :(

p/s : pls pardon the partial blue skirting u saw, it will be repaint to 1024 juton (dove colour) developer's current paint

I think the problem is that your cabinets and refrigerator at very dark and heavy and your walls and splashback are very white. The refrigerator matches the work surface, so that is fine. Assuming you cannot lighten/change the cabinets I would make the walls and splashback darker. Smoked grey mirror is popular and affordable in a small space such as this and could give you a very nice finish, not to mention make the space feel larger. I would also carry the cabinetry over the refrigerator to give it a more fitted feel. Good luck!

Hello You are at the planning stages of your design, how exciting. Industrial is such a great look, when we design this type of scheme for our clients we like to mix industrial elements with period style. So crittal windows with Victorian style floor tiles. Or industrial light fittings mixed with squishy unpholstery pieces such as sofas and armchairs. This will help soften the overall aesthetic, which as you suggest can be hard if not balanced with softer elements. Take a look at some of our interiors projects for inspiration. Mixing period detailing and styles from different eras such as mid century, Scandinavean and 70's with classic industrial elements such as exposed bricks, metal detailing will give you a more interesting and original take on this style. Hi Angela, I think I would look at a modern grey and white look. Maybe with a darker green used in a few accessories and plants which will soften the design look (important with hard floors). If you don't have furniture then maybe consider a single room redesign interior design service. Everything is then taken into account to ensure lighting, colours, furniture and space planning as well as styling. I hope that helps. Thanks, Gina

I will have to have a look at the paint samples again as can’t remember all the tones. I’m sure we had Cornforth on our interior doors and it was a lilac tone grey in some lights? Anyone back that up? Nice colour but have to be careful what you pair it with. I don’t personally think you have to match your kitchen to your woodwork colour in the adjacent room unless you really like the colour and had envisaged it for your units? Re the finish. At least if you get them sprayed up locally, you can always pop a door over to get done which is cheaper than having to buy a new door via the kitchen company. That’s the only reason I wanted to paint my own units ie because it’s so hard to touch up sprayed units as they just don’t blend in the same.

Based on what you described, I would choose a wallpaper that ties the blue and cream together. Since you said 'statement' I would probably go for something strong. What about 'pines - blue pine' from Little Greene? Without knowing what the light is like, it's a little hard to recommend. I have the impression of a dark space, because you have a black slate floor and a black fireplace.
