Dressing bifold doors

We now have a gorgeous open plan kitchen lounge with bifold doors across the back we're all white with grey rads and work tops and having an oak colour floor I want cosy it up with curtains or blinds but think blinds may be too clinical but if I put a pole up I would have wanted to pull both curtains to one side in the day so to get the full view and access to the opening door but think the pole will have s fixing bracket in middle so just looking for ideas

Hi, Debbie,

A discreet track would be a good way to go; we did this here:

The track itself hardly shows, there are no brackets to get in the way, and the curtain can be pulled all the way over to one side!

Hi we were having the same issue and it took me a while to decide. Ours are also 4m wide. We decided on integrated blinds, although expensive we have kids and it's where our kitchen is so figured it would be less damage and cleaning. Also to cover 4m in other coverings can be expensive too. I am very happy with ours! Ps my neighbour has vertical blinds and they look ok but a little officey/Scandinavia for me. Hope this helps.

Hiya, What a gorgeous space - I bet you can't wait to make the most of it now the weather is getting warmer! There are a few suggestions we'd offer. It's hard to tell from your photos what material your doors are, but for uPVC frames we offer something called PerfectFit. This is where the blinds clip directly into the frame without the need for drilling, and is available with our Pleated, Roller and Venetian blind ranges. Alternatively, a Roller blind would create a really sleek and stylish look. I've attached a picture of our Painterly Duck Egg Roller blinds at a bi-fold door as an illustration. However, for a cosy feel, as you mention, a Pleated blind is also a fantastic choice. Attached is an image of our Montoya Azure Pleated blinds to show how well they can make a statement at the window. Our ThermaShade range is also a great way to stop heat from escaping from your windows - the clever honeycomb fabric traps heat and will contribute to the cosy effect you crave. Bifold doors 3.6m opening - are 1.2m doors too heavy?

In a previous house we had 3x1m aluminium bi fold doors. All doors stacked outside to the right. I loved them but I think anything larger than 1m panels would have been too heavy and unwieldy. One of the panels was our back door and clipped onto the second door to secure it. But a glass panel of 1.2m is a big door to be opening on a windy day. I would go for the 4x 1m option. On a warm sunny day it will be lovely to have that large opening. Ours were SE facing and some days they would be open from 7 am to bedtime. We only had one issue with them. Sometimes in hot weather they would swell and be difficult to close until they cooled down. However I have never heard of this happening before.

I agree with Daisy, I would go with roman blinds. Taking into consideration how your window opens, I would hang them outside the window recess so you have total clearance. I sourced all my roman blinds from Blinds-to Go. They have a great range. We had the same dilemma didn't want a fixing in the middle so we used an electrical condriute ?? As a pole and bought the fixings separately, also saved a fortune.

Thank you for your replies where is the discreet track from? Is that like the old white tracks that used to be used with curtain tape and hooks

Hi Debbie, try Silent Gliss (which you should be able to get through your local curtain maker) We used it here (photo attached and not too dissimilar to yours) for heavier, black out interlined curtains. You could extend the pole all the way to the right and stack back so as to keep the view and not impede your slave door or wall cupboards. Your fitter will need to check curtain weight and bracket/fixings & positions.
