Chimney breast wall smaller than the headboard
Comments (26)Hi, I would love to see the end result if you do have any pictures.. My room has no real wall to put bed against.. one alcove is 100cm.. the other 120cm however it slopes where roof is, the goes into a large L or maybe even a L and another backwards L.. Did you just get the bedroom chimney breast taken out and/pr downstairs too?...See MoreColour for chimney breast
Comments (4)Hi Michelle, Your space looks fantastic; I love the colour scheme you have gone for! Orange is a great accent colour, and a burnt orange shade would look lovely, such as Dulux Nigerian Sands 4. This will work alongside the pavilion grey and the railings colour which you currently have beautifully. Another idea would be to paint your woodwork in Dulux Pure Brilliant White, which will add that extra bit of light to the space, and will look amazing against the grey wall too. http://bit.ly/2fb99EG http://bit.ly/2g4SYbp Good luck with it all and please let me know how you get on! Comments (21)Hello, It seems to me that the chimney sticks out about 350 - 400mm into the room. That's a lot of potential space. The TV is probably 50mm deep. That leaves 300mm of space doing what? I would suggest removing the chimney breast completely throughout the house. This should not cost more than about £5,000. Then I would build a bit of stud for the TV and any other elements I wanted and gain additional space on the ground floor and first floor. If you remove the chimney on the ground floor get an engineer to design a suitable support and remember any structural supports have to be signed off by building control....See MoreSamsung Frame TV on Chimney Breast - How to Style?
Comments (13)Thanks all! I really like the Serif, but I'm just not sure our living room allows for it. In addition, kids may be on the horizon so I think fear also plays a part! @Sarah U-S, thanks for the comment regarding the cable. I just see a video actually where the installer ran it behind a stud wall - however recommended not doing so for brick (our fireplace is plastered brick). That being said, we were thinking of doing something like the photo below, with cabinets built into the alcoves and perhaps even across the front of the chimney breast. Our thinking is that if the cupboards in front are kept very narrow it will not take too much space and we might be able to use the chimney opening to increase the depth a little. In this 'solution', we;d put The Frame sitting just above the cabinet at a sensible height, then pictures above say (as per @minnie101 's comment). The cable would presumably be able to run just a very short distance down into the cabinet, which wouldn't be so bad? Might even be able to hide it with a tiny ornament/plant in front...?...See MoreSue Brown
