Functionally, shower/bath combos are great, but walk in showers create an entirely unique and luxurious experience in your bathroom - walk in shower gets our vote!

Both work well for different clients, but I think a walk in shower looks more modern.

I much prefer the look of stainless steel and I have both in our bathrooms. It looked great for a while but it doesn't clean up as well as chrome. The chrome has a bluey cold tinge whereas the steel actually looks warmer.

Thanks active builders, I thought 1.8m depth for the wet area - assuming bath is 80cm wide that leaves 1m depth for the showering area, but then that only leaves 1.2m to fit basin and toilet, which I thought might be a bit tight? We don’t really want a small basin as this is the main bathroom. My other option is to have toilet and washbasin opposite each other in the 1.2m run, but then this leaves a 80cm gap between toilet and washbasin and not sure if this would look a bit cramped?

Hey there! To be able to advise best, it would be good to know what pressure you have in the property - or perhaps what system your house runs on? (i.e. Gravity Fed system, combi boiler, megaflow, or gravity with a pump?) Working with clients regularly on this, we tend to find that one valve to operate both can be nice. Also on a practical front, if you are having a shower over a bath, then you don't have the fiddley worries of cleaning around taps placed on a bath! :) Depending on pressure, you can get these with two outlet (to control a bath overflow filler and a shower kit) or three outlet meaning you can add a fixed head to the above combination. If a sink can go there, a shower should be able to go there too, no? What reasons did he have? If for built-in handles I understand, but with a regular shower tap+hose, what's not possible? What about adjecent rooms? Any area about 100cm wide x80cm deep you could miss? We've managed to fit a toilet into our bathroom by removing a cupboard in our landing. Besides that, a 83cm door is wide enough (standard size in our whole house). Note: reserve 85cm width for your toilet. A walk in shower needs to be about 120-150cm long, why would you want such a long glass enclosure in a small space like that? That's valuable floorspace you've got to balance out! ;) So this could work, but I think is not a good idea:

Walk in shower for us. So much easier to access. We like using wetroom trays rather than stone resin trays as our clients can then benefit from the luxury of underfloor heating in the shower area too!

i have a shower bath....my oh loves a bath, me and the kids prefer showers so we"re all catered for.

just had a total bathroom refit and I love it so much, its very modern looking, glossy black vanity and bath panel ,glass and chrome tiles, black flooring and loads of mirrors.....
