I am trying to figure out what type of design I want to go with for this wall using picture frames.

I would put your one piece of art in your image on another wall and only do empty frames on the wall shone...the piece of art you have will be to large to combine with other frames....

I just downsized to a small condo and have been thinning out my collection of books drastically. I am going to have most of one wall in my living room lined with Whittier "classic" bookshelves painted to match the walls. These shelves are purchased unfinished and I am painting them myself. By getting all the same height and a mix of single or double wide shelving units, I can make these look like built ins when they're all lined up together. One thing I learned from my 4 years living in Southern California is to always make sure my shelves are firmly attached to the wall. I use Quakehold steel safety fasteners. Thanks, we have other football memorabilia around the room i.e framed signed shirts. I like this idea but don't think it will fit in around the room. The pennants are on the only blank wall in the room. x

keep it fun an interesting, either go for one colour theme, like collection of blue/white china, or mix and match with cookbooks on one shelf and interesting kitchen paraphernalia on the other shelf. Junk shop finds of old kitchen storage. OR why not search out other copperware to fit in with your copper kettle, and mix this up with old fashioned wooden items, like antique chopping boards, bowls and maybe some vintage looking glassware. The dresser is a modern reproduction, so give it a more realistic look with the accessories I mention as well as find ceramic handles to give more traditional feel to it. Make sure that all the pieces displayed have a kitchen or dining room theme, otherwise it will look out of place, and most of all HAVE FUN with it. x

If you want to update the look of your room then I suggest hanging large picture frames all the same size aligned in a symmetrical pattern. Silver frames will also help to update your furniture. Just make sure the frames are big enough. Using small frames makes the wall look cluttered and the pictures are too small to even see from far. :)
