Comments (18)I think that is a double-track and they have a second, heavier curtain behind it. But even if they don't, I think that is what you should do for versatility and look. They actually have it built into the frame so it is hidden and super sleek, but I think you can achieve this look if you run it along where the angled ceiling meets the wall. I would take a picture of your room and what you like to John Lewis, or another high end store or specialist curtain maker and ask their advice for specifics. I was just trying to give you an idea that I hoped you would like! I'm sorry I can't be super specific, but I think you need to have these custom made to do justice to the room, the view, and to get exactly what you want....See MoreWhich window dressing for bay Crittal window?
Comments (21)I too thought shutters would block out too much light, but the look when fitted is so lovely, and with wider size slats, the more light they let in. The pics below have small slats but its the same style of bay with shutters. Also don't have the push rods on the front if you want a cleaner look. Having the slats split so top/bottom open separately like pic below is also good if you want privacy without shutting out light from the top. High gloss shutters also reflect light into the room and shutters seem to go with any look, period or contemporary....See Morewindow dressing a French window?
Comments (9)Hi Susie, you said above that you are going for a Roman blind and wanted some advice on the fitting. Below are some points to consider. You can buy Roman blinds with various backings. As this is your bedroom, ensure that it definitely comes with a blackout rather than a dimout backing. If it is surface-mounted (i.e., outside of the window frame) then less light will appear down the two sides of the fabric. If it is recessed, you are likely to experience more ‘light ingress’. You can choose to have it manually-operated (e.g., via chains made of plastic or metal beads) or remote-controlled (via mains or rechargeable batteries). Although a powered blind is more expensive, it is rather fun to operate it from the comfort of your bed. You can even have it opening and closing automatically at sunrise and sunset (or at other periods) via a timer that knows your longitude and latitude, or from abroad (for security reasons) via a smart phone if you are into technological living! Comments (5)I don't seem to be able to edit my post so can't correct my typos but here are some images. Showing the light that comes in around a standard blind and the same blind closed Showing the bloc blind we have that got damaged on first use so let's a bit of light in where the fabric creased, otherwise does a reasonable job but is very ugly. I wonder if I could fit a roman blind or valance over it? (2 pictures one showing closed completely and one open as it seems to almost disappear!) The window that needs a new blind or curtains. it has a gro blind and broken venetian that came with the house currently!...See MoreSarah
