New cladding and windows colour choice
Comments (2)I think white against the dark grey has the biggest visual impact but with dark grey windows. If you wanted something different you could always try a different colour over the door area or even the oak. I can't unfortunately find any images.....See MoreTo clad or not to clad ?
Comments (10)Properly executed cladding should not cause any issues, but I have personally seen first hand that badly installed cladding literally destroyed a building structurally by creating a great environment for fungus to spread. Before making your decision you might want to go over this official guide on cladding: http://www.fema.gov/media-library-data/20130726-1707-25045-0913/chapter9.pdf It gives a lot of information on how cladding works, behaviour of water on cladding etc. I would personally never use cladding, but I have seen cladded buildings doing absolutely fine for 25+ years. Saying that they were in mild climates with no coastal winds or airborne salt. I'm not an expert on cladding or coastal properties. Insulation on an old house is always a good idea, as it really helps with cold spots and can greatly reduce fuel bills. With smooth render, you can also add additives to it to help inhibit salt, which would increase its lifespan in your area....See MoreWhat Colour to paint my cladding?
Comments (1)Hello, It is hard to see from the photos as they do not seem to get any bigger when clicking on them. Do you have any a little closer to the building. I would normally do a 3D image to show my customers how this would look in different colours and materials. You can then see everything together before making costly purchases. I would agree that painting the cladding would be the most cost effective way to make a big change. If you are having grey aluminium windows then I would go a more modern and contemporary colour. It is hard to see the front door from here but this is normally a good thing to change to upgrade and modernise your property. I hope this helps and if you wanted to upload more photos or email them I can take a closer look. All the best, Gina...See MoreWhat colour cladding please?
Comments (8)Hi Heather, If it were me I would keep it all white, clean, modern / contemporary. Rather than clad in PVC check the woodwork and make any repairs as necessary then paint it white. Paint the eaves & facia board at the top white as well + new white guttering / down pipe. As PWJ says, check if planning is required. If you had some budget left consider plantation shutter to each room (inside) This is an interior feature that will add to the look of all rooms but what I always find is that it also adds to the external look of the house...
