What about having a big stylish right pointing arrow and your house number ("No. 23") stencilled on your garage door? I would soften the front of the house & garage with climbers ... a fave of mine is Japanese Hydrangea which does take a while to get going, but is one of the first things to bud, is covered with flowers and has interesting flower heads in the winter. I put one by our door 5 years ago and it's over 6 foot tall now. The gable end of the garage could stand something ... an outside clock perhaps? You could soften the spikiness of the bed planting by surrounding each plant with lavender or catmint ... beloved of butterflies & bees, and lovely soft colours.

Hi Raiyan. I think you'll have to buy the 'Sliding Barn Door' Hardware and then choose some doors to hang on it. The hardware comes in various lengths and can be bought from several sources, such as:- Amazon sliding barn door system Ecrater Uk I don't know of any doors like that in the UK and suspect that they are not sourced from here. You could achieve a similar effect by buying pine doors & painting the glazing bars black

It's not shared access, its just a split level rear access, he has a path that goes up the centre of his lawned area. The picture is deceiving but the level between mine and his front area only matches once you come slightly down the drive. The level on my side of the side access has always been about a foot higher. I like the idea of taller planters, i just need to find some large enough and in keeping with the "look" of the house i guess. So my options are planters that are taller, or remove some of the driveway blocks and put a short fence or wall in. Would a wall be a better option? i'm only talking a couple of feet high at most. Perhaps easier to have a low brick wall put in? i love the stuff these guys do but not sure how i could make them work LINK

Hi, sounds fabulous! I believe the best way to tackle this is to use a pivot hinge on the door. See pic below, but I would place the pivot fairly close to one side so you still get a decent sized opening. Using a hinge like this means you will not need architraves inside that room and the plaster can go right up to the opening, allowing a smooth base for the mural.
