kitchen layout for main sink on island
Comments (3)Hi there, If at all possible we would suggest to not have the sink on the island. It is completely up to you, but we have found a lot of our clients like to have the sink against the wall. The sink area tends to be a bit messy with pots and pans waiting to be washed. You could fit your tall cabinets, hob and sink area along the back wall and leave the island completely clear of appliances or the sink. As the island will be a nice size it will give you tons of prep area and when you have guests around it'll be a great social and serving area. Do you have a plan of the room? We would be happy to take a look at it to help you along with the layout of the room. We hope this helps, The team at Modus...See Morekitchen sink draining rack
Comments (9)I remember buying a dish rack from the Conran shop when I got my first flat years ago, just because it looked funky! Thanks for the memory jog! But in today’s kitchens I think they would seem out of place unless you had some eclectic place that looked like perhaps an artists loft that could be in a film, or something like that. :)...See Morehelp - where to put wine rack(s)?
Comments (30)Thanks minie, yeah I’m pleased with this one too - the app didn’t have an option for a tall unit with just a single oven, so I had to make do with what they had, but yes, we would just have a single oven in one and the other would have a combo micro/oven and warming drawer so it would all line up. And I just shoved a few things on the shelves without really thinking, but yes the open shelving would look neater than that! I’m also considering whether to have the breakfast bar and the units on the opposite island of the hob to be higher units so it is about 18cm higher than the hob. That way could potentially have the breakfast bar directly opposite the hob, although the higher units would have to be 300 deep which means people sitting even nearer the hob, albeit higher up - I’m not sure if the hob would still pose a risk in this case with fat splashes etc?...See MoreBest use of a kitchen island
Comments (7)As others say, it's completely dependent on the space and how you use it. For me, I'm choosing to have the hob on the island, so that it's more sociable for me when I'm cooking, and I don't have my back to everyone/everything also useful for keeping an eye on kids if we end up having them. Like Daisy, I'm having a TV put on the wall so I can watch whilst cooking We're making sure we'll have our seating at the opposite end of the island for safety We also did not want the mess of the sink and washing up on the island as whilst we do have a dishwasher, I prefer to wash certain things by hand anyway....See MoreEllsworth Design Build
