Wicker table setting

I currently have a wicker/rattan table and chairs next to my window, which also has bamboo blinds and it's looking a little brown
I was hoping to dress up this area while still keeping it practical and being used as a dining table
I had thought about a table runner but this doesn't work as well on a circle table and perhaps plants around the base. I didn't quite now how to incorporate them
Does anyone else have any ideas on what might make this area a bit more in keep with the rest of the room and yet still a usable piece of furniture

6 years agoI think it would be nice to change window dressing to lightweight long curtains which allow light to go through but give privacy.
Something like the pictures below.( my living room)

Comments (7)You need some pictures on the walls, and how about a tall vase or basket / woven type vase with tall dried flowers - seed pods - leaves next to your TV to hide the wall socket and the cables? Brown and green colouring with a woven vase would work well and be in your colour scheme. Think about a large basket on the opposite side of the TV for magazines etc or, a more flat open type basket with some leaves conkers small logs or stones in it - pot-pourri, could do both - magazine basket with open basket just in front to the side. A light coloured throw of colours that match your unit on the couch, with some extra cushions. A pouffe in front of your window, or small tub type or woven chair with a small table beside it, a plant would look good also. You have a lovely looking room that just needs a bit of character added, something that will reflect your personality. Comments (3)Although some great vintage pieces can be sanded and repainted to really fine new life that you can enjoy.. I think it's probably the shape and style that you don't like rather than finish or colour.. there also doesn't seem to be much wrong with it which would mean it necessarily needs to be 'changed' ..so I agree with Jen P, the best thing you can do is sell to someone who can enjoy them for what they are and buy something more useful to you in memory of your inheritance :) something just aren't meant to be....See MoreShould I purchase set of oak metal cross back chairs to table
Comments (5)Yes Daisy they are not comfortable and we tend to be lounge dwellers lol but I do like a table when I have guests or sunday lunch around a table so nice for get together. I work with lots of young dogs and puppies and my last german shepherd (sadly now passed) had a thing about testing my new tables and chairs just nibbling them around the edges so this was a bit of a solution with metal finish to that issue as we had him for 15years!! lol. But to be honest has worked out extremely well especially for hot things. I have considered Having top recovered in solid surface as I like its shape and size and I do use it as a workstation too and bentwood chairs soooo love this style of iconic chair around a mismatched table and love natural woods thats why I kept the upper cabinets that are solid med.oak and beautifully made just replaced one or two facia panels on the wall units to tie in with my new base units in a matt sage/grey finish thats so easy to keep clean. Going to replace facia on plate rack on far wall next to link it in more sort of evolving this kitchen make over used a great replacement door company in Stoke. If I do replace whole lot table and chairs will then make a charming little set for the garden so I cant complain about this buy as purchased half price In late summer sale nice when things are useful.
