Revamping kitchen by changing cupboards advice
Comments (1)We did our kitchen a couple of years ago but had limited budget to do the connecting utility room. As a result we just swapped the doors and kept the carcasses. It wasn't a difficult job for the joiner (although clearly we had to make sure that the new doors were the same size) and it saved a fortune in both the cost of the units and the joiner's time. IMO you wouldn't know that we just changed the doors....See MoreWhat would you change about this kitchen?
Comments (21)Hi Bath Bespoke It looks like the vertical section of the staircase was slotted in the gap between the ceiling and the base (stringer?) in one piece - did you have to widen the stair treads to do that? There’s quite a gap between our current spindles and the ceiling/floor as the stairs go up. Is it possible an extra stringer was clad on to accommodate said verticals? It looks such a lovely and simple solution but suspect all components need to be spot on to get it right!...See MoreKitchen renovation ideas
Comments (5)I think the kitchen is still quite usable. I would remove the tiles in favour of a plain painted wall, and save on money for the floor. I personally feel it can be a mistake to place white units with a white tiled floor. I think the floor is what's dating the kitchen, not the other way around. Screed over the floor and lay down some inexpensive Wooden style plank lino to match your work top. I know a lot of people paint kitchen cupboards and i've had to 'save' a fair few. In my experience, unless you are really good at painting, have the time to remove all cupboards and drawer fronts to roller the cupboard fronts four or five times, it's not going to look good. I'll probably get shouted out from all corners, but unless it's going to get done properly it will probably not look great!. I personally think kitchen doors should be spray painted ( outside in warm weather ) for the best finish. Grey floor and walls would also suit your kitchen and bring it straight back up to date...See MoreNeed help: Changing kitchen cabinet edging trim/colour
Comments (2)It’s the edge of the carcase you can see. Most carcases are edged with a 2mm edging which is put on by machine. Some older ones have iron on edging applied. If you want to replace it then it’s a fiddly job. The way to get it off is to heat it up so hold an iron with no steam setting and peel it off. Then you have to apply the new one which can be iron on and file off the edges. The machine edged edging at 2mm would have to be done on the machine and it’s done when it is in pieces not fully assembled....See Morejhmarie
