We are still working on our new house, there is currently a bath with a glass half screen that is totally useless. The water bounces off whoever is showering past the screen and over the toilet, the floor, the ceiling, and it's only a half tiled wall so the wallpaper is peeling. I've considered the P or d shaped baths which give a larger section at one end in which to stand when using the shower and I've seen there are matching curved glass screens to go with them. Two points to consider. 1. If you are not planning on staying a shower could be a good selling point, the water saving of a shower versus a bath. Our last bath hardly saw a look in during 16 years and although it was a lovely deep double ended steel bath it gathered dust and the shower was definately the go-to choice. 2. I am now considering the usability of the bathroom for an elderly relative who has had a stroke, likes baths, but may not be able to get into, or out of one, with dignity intact. I'm thinking that a large walk in shower with additional wall jets could be a good option and the upscale could be a wow factor. Although you may not be in the same position you can never have enough forward planning.

If you put the main tv in the area with the French doors - could you see your son from the kitchen ? ( it looks like you could )... I've put together a very quick sketch of an idea to make the most of that beautiful fireplace nook - with a couple of fireside chairs - have either a round display table ( flowers /family photos etc) in the bay or add seating and use as an alternative dining / homework table ? With your 2.5 and 2.3m sofa in the French room end ... If you enable tv viewing /games etc in a tablet it could open up more opportunity too ?! Even if it's fixed in different places rather than hand held if that could be a problem ? [marketing note - this is an example of a sketch consultation service that OnePlan offer . Normal rates would be £35ph. But in this instance, we are happy to have helped this Houzzer FOC ]

I might get overruled on that one! (Although my husband is obviously wanting to watch it for different reasons!). I'm pleased that you're happy with it! That's great that they're washable, so handy, and that the dog likes it!! No Xmas took over... I need to look at it urgently as damp has now appeared in one room, I feel like I've cursed it :( we went to Bruges last week and I admired numerous houses, as you do (!), and I'm now thinking of slightly less traditional colours.... I just can't make my mind up, i wish whoever hadn't rendered it in the first place as it would be so much easier!

I'm assuming that this is the master bedroom and you are trying to create a more adult and sophisticated scheme. Also, you mentioned that the bed is going into a spare room, so we're discussing pretty much a blank canvas. As this is your room, it would not be sensible to remove or make the wardrobes smaller since you need them. You may be able to split the single door into a top-half door with a fixed bottom and add a chest of drawers below the window that is fitted from the left hand wall to the fixed half door. Why would you choose the paint colour and paper before your bed? There are endless variations of paint and paper; far more than bed choices. Start with the furniture, then the decor. You could purchase your bed and base separately from a headboard and match the base to the bedside cabinets. Decide what shape and height headboard you want. You could have an oversized headboard or even upholster panels to fit wall to wall and floor to ceiling at the head of the bed, making a feature of that wall. I would keep the decorating of the walls the same, rather than have a feature decor wall. Breaking up the decor of the walls in a small room will make the room appear even smaller. Also, the colour you choose for the walls will be heavily influenced by the light at different times of the day. If the room appears dark throughout the day, don't fight it. Instead make the walls dark and cozy. If you plan to use the patchwork quilt again, look at dark denim blue or a deeper raspberry. Finally, the windows. Keep the window dressings simple with roller blinds or Roman blinds. You can use ready mades or choose a fabric you love and ask your local blind dealer if blinds can be made for you. Have them outside the recesses for better light control. Good luck.
