Does our kitchen look dated?
Comments (18)Thanks so much for all the comments, really appreciate them! Sometimes I feel you get used to things and don't see them the way other people might. Well, my partner is definitely not very keen on re-tiling, understandably, I guess, having done all the work himself, but wouldn't rule it out completely, and in turn I promised to give it at least another year without changing anything and see how strongly I feel about it then. A S, we did indeed repaint the dining room not long ago in a much whiter shade (the first two pictures are from before so do look yellow) The kitchen walls are a light mushroom shade, can't be white as the cabinets are cream. The under-cabinet lighting isn't quite so intensely yellow in real life, but definitely on a warm spectrum as I don't find cool white very cosy, just personal preference. One final question if you don't mind - the other bathroom (not pictured) is north facing but looks straight onto a grassy bank which does get a lot of sun - as a result if you look at the window it's just green which reflects into the room and it seems a very odd colour. Would something with a red tone on the walls help neutralise this do you think? Comments (14)The wardrobes are a very traditional colour, so any other element which is also perceived as traditional may look a little 'staid'. I would consider a palette like this. Paint and Paper library Desert Rose is a lovely dirty pink beige which looks great with stronger teracotta accents and cleaner pinks. It would work with the purple colour of the wardrobe. 6 years agoI think you could go in many other directions that feel more youthful, urban and warm and you have to consider the rustic look of your headboard.

6 years agowhat is w/the pallet? sorry, but it looks like you just took it off the street and stuck it against your wall. It's not the best, natural pallet. if you want a pallet headboard, take it apart and make a headboard. plenty of how to's online. painting it would also help. a gray or yellow.
your drapery rod is bent in the middle. could you straighten it? maybe grab a stronger one to hold the drapes? You don't need the drape in the middle of the window behind your pallet.
