Grey or cream for house exterior?

Hi there,
We are getting near the finishing line for our dream house in Zimbabwe! But the pressing question is: what should the exterior colour be? Two members of the family would like to go for a cool grey, a lighter shade of the cement finish that is there at the moment. Two others want the classical cream/magnolia look.
Please help us solve this divide, we will be forever grateful.

Cream colour or off white is lovely, makes your house stands out, but may need more maintenance. If it is light colour then it easily gets dirty with rains and algae or red soil in the warm climate. Light to medium grey show less dirt but would not stands out like the off white/cream colour, that’s my opinion.

Could you afford to face the render with matching stone? If not the whole thing, then around the window and door to make them seem a lot larger than they are. Or paint around them if you can't afford the stone. Then paint the top half in a similar colour to your stone. The False mirrored window above is a great idea for upstairs! The door needs a horizontal porch roof - good suggestion near the top of these comments. ( Would be good to right across door and window too). Pots, plants, climbers. Paint that downpipe to blend in too, and can the wire be re-routed (paint it too) to follow the edges of the building.

Big thanks tamp75. I really like your idea of RAL 9007 for garage door (standard product) and Sadolin "volcanic ash" for the window frames. Hadn't thought of that! And I think you might be right about the weathering of the "traditional" shade of Marshalls driveway products. Have been noticing this as a pass local front gardens. Anyone have any ideas for a warm/soft white shade for the exterior wall? A mum at school suggested RAL 9010 - she said that was the advice her sister (an architect) had given her on her house (she was doing the interiors). Any views?

Yes I think we've all got one of those groups, Sonia. Like to post pictures of dog poo and badly parked cars on a daily basis!! Been to Hitchin myself some years ago and seem to remember a nice place called The Sun Inn and a fabulous farmers market. Sorry to hijack original post. Happen to like the softer grey wood myself as well. Perhaps it would be useful to get a mock up done before you make your mind up.
