Powder Room Color with Brown Tile

Hi! Anyone have any suggestions on wall color of a powder room with this brown tile? It's currently a yellow-ish tan color that I'm not happy with. We will eventually take out the floors (I don't love it but we're probably 2 years out from taking it out) but would love to get something on the walls for now that at least compliments it in some way.

Turquoise and brown is so Jonathan Adler circa 2010. Blech.

That tile is actually pretty cool, if the photos are a good indication. I think it needs more modern fixtures (sink & toilet), though, to go with it; those clash.

Why don't you go with a chocolate brown? Leave the trim off white.

Or just move from gold toward a cream, which will feel more neutral.

Lol AMW. There's about 15cm from top of window to ceiling & the walls are cement blocks (so no recess space). The tiled 'secret' drawer compartment looks pretty cool though. I've got a cabinet being made in oak which will have to be sufficient for my daughter. The only thing I haven't decided on yet is the punter colour material to go with my java marble tile. So any pictures or links of suitable countertop/bench tops to go with the tile & oak cabinet would be grand :)

In terms of the sofas you can add cushions and/or throw to lighten them up. For the walls you could use a yellow or red based neutral, something like farrow and ball savage ground is good for North facing rooms. Also use mirrors and metallic finishes to bounce light around. Window treatment also plays a big part so it would be helpful to see a pic of the window. Make sure you also have good artificial lightening, so a combination of ceiling or ŵall lights, plus table lamps and a floor lamp, lighting 3 corners of the room is effective.The other alternative is to embrace the dark and go for a lovely dark matt paint on the walls!!

This room is big enough for an all shaped sofa but as they are large you will likely only have one place in the room where it works well. A sofa and two chairs or two sofas will likely give you more choices of layout

My twopenneth..... I usually love a good painting update but here I'm definitely with the don't paint Houzzers above. I think the devil is in the detail with this one and you've got the bones of a nice spa feel bathroom space here. Agree you should change the toilet seat to white and consider painting the window frame white too. You could always think about covering the floor with a tile effect vinyl (black and white) for an update there. Complement this with some black and white artwork. The brown tiles will help warm the monochrome look and then like others say its largely about those finishing touches. Some inspiration pics below. The last one is far too cluttered for my taste but gives some idea of how you might tackle some storage, dressing of the room and flooring idea. Good luck

I would go in a totally opposite direction and paint the walls a light turquoise or teal shade. If you can, swap out your fixtures / faucets for brass or gold tone, or bronze. The right shade of turquoise / teal can be gorgeous with that tile.

Since it's a powder room you can go dark and bold. If you go that route a darker, rich chocolate brown would look nice. If you want to keep it lighter, go for a creamier white instead of gold/tan.

That is some crazy tile! I would go for a white or cream to tone it down a little. Or you could go really bold and embrace it with something like this wallpaper and mirror.

I agree with above about painting the walls a completely different color. Are you daring?

Try a chocolate brown, chartreuse green, fuchsia and cool icy blue scheme. ****my favorite****

Or greens and blue with your brown tile - using accents/paint in BM Blue Bell, Golden Delicious & Mediterrean Sky.

Eggplant and brown looks nice.

Plum, beige and chocolate.

Or BM Georgia Peach, Sweet Butter and BM Flamingo Orange - a pretty coral and chocolate combo.

I may be nuts, but I really like the tile. It is unique, fresh. I'm with Be you Home Design and use a light turquoise on the walls and gold fixtures. Blues and browns always go together lovely.

I like those tiles too! They are soooo pretty. This is an out of the box look that is rare. They are in excellent shape! I would be bold and brave and throw down some turquoise blue. The right blue and some crisp white trim could really make this space shine!

You could "paint in" a chair rail to divide the wall. You could paint the bottom half white and then the top half of the wall blue. It could be a little Caribbean Hide-Away Powder Room. You could have so much fun with this without touching those tiles. Some shell/sea accents and a funky mirror and you are done!

I really like the tile flooring. You should definitely consider blue. Blues and browns work amazing together! Here are two options, the top is SW Waterloo and the bottom SW Into the Navy.

Blue and brown is classic - but dated, to my eye. I'd go with an off-white and look for accessories - maybe faux tortoise shell? - that pick up the floor. The floor is interesting - it's all about how you integrate it.

Play with the color of the lightbulbs too. While cameras see color and light differently, your light looks very yellow. Incandescent? See if you like a slightly bluer bulb, e.g., 3000K better with the floor. Be sure to take the color of the light into account when picking the paint color.

I'm leaning towards doing an off-white/cream, gold mirror, eventually a new vanity/toilet. The only "bold" blue that I might consider is a navy. Sort of like this, knowing we'll eventually put dark hardwood in here (since there is no shower).

I would highlight the metallic gold in the mosaic and select a wallpaper with metallic gold and white.

Love that turquoise! It seems like people often get caught up in trying to match or harmonize or monochrome everything, when contrast is what makes things interesting. It's why we like Patchwork quilts and mixed Garden borders.

I believe what you have is called Bisazza Mosaico Cipro mix 2-3. We still have some samples here. We matched it up with a blue green tile and with a soft green. Take a look. Not saying you necessarily have to go with the tile but see what it looks like with either or for color purposes.

I like suggestions of chocolate brown, linen, and less likely but possibly fab companions as fuchsia.

While blue will look great too, I'd take into account how I'd look against blue background. Kids and some handsome people with flawless complexion look good against anything; but as I myself stopped being a) a kid b) a handsome person with flawless complexion, but unfortunately stayed shallow and vain..:) I'd make sure I like myself there. It's also a powder room, place where guests check themselves out and all, and I'd consider it too.

Having said that-chocolate + accents of turquoise AND fuchsia (or orher blues and pinks) is a combo I dream of using someday. It can be incredibly beautiful

Is it my monitor or are there some pinky tones in the tile - brown, pink and cream are one of my all time fav color combos - fwiw. The presence of the brown and cream prevent the pink from having any girly connotations

Wish I could relieve you of those tiles - they are beautiful - shows kind of a coppery glow on my monitor. One easy fix would be just to look closely and pick out a color from the tile for your walls.

I like the tile, too. Not blue as accent tho, seems trendy to me and just too too much for a small space. I’d go with a rich cream, and I love Beverly’s wallpaper with the gold dots.
