Where did you get the light + are they clear crystals that reflect?

Hi weezer16. I've had the same problem several times. If I were you I would keep to a fairly simple shape like a drum e.g http://www.pagazzi.com/shop-for-lighting/ceiling-lights/davis-extra-large-pendant-silver.html I can't tell from your photos whether a warmer colour would go better but the shape won't detract from the wall paper on the chimney Brest and ties in with the fairly simple mantle but a larger size will stop it blending into the background. Then you can add a bit more interest with your cabinet lighting etc.

Font of our house is north east facing and only gets the morning sun. Neighbours windows across the road does bounce back a bit of light but not a huge amount. It’s the dark front door and hideous artex (which may well contain asbestos) that contribute to the doom and gloom here. Project for another day;). I think lighting will be a key thing for you, something with a lot of faceted glass or crystals might help to distribute the light around more. I really like these holophane or prismatic glass pendants atm. Some are a bit pricey tho. Some inspo:

Sun tunnel... reflective paint... mirror shelving?

I would try to avoid a sun tunnel to start with to see if could be tweaked with paint etc. I would be tempted to paint both the red wall and the wall with the hall door one colour to unite it as a cosy space. It's impossible to pluck colours out of our heads, they have to be tested rigorously as light changes everything. Rooms starved of light will look greyer if painted white, and lack of light makes F&B greys look a bit too grey. Something subtle but with some colour may help, could be a dirty browny pink or a soft 'hay' colour. What is the other colour on the pale walls?

Hi Lola, thanks for adding this comment. I'm highly inclined to agree with you but the thing that's annoying me is that right side wall with the clock on it. That's a solid brick wall. I love the idea of having that new fake wall built with sunk in niches/compartments on the left, top, bottom and TV in the middle. But the right side is going to look strange as there no symmetry with the left side AND I can't cut into the right side brick wall ....or....can I? I want the whole wall to be flush with niches but want that symmetry with top, bottom , right and left. Any ideas how I can achieve that? As I think out loud, I could ignore niches on the left as I can't do anything on the right and simply put niches on over and below the TV. This way you have symmetry on all 4 sides. So in summary: Above TV sunk in niched compartments Below TV sunk in niched compartments Left side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? Right side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? TV sunk in the middle. I'm not sure I like the blanked sides or hung pictures. With pictures you would have items protuding on the right/left sides whereas all other sides including the TV will be sunk in. Confusing on the eye? Any other ideas on how I might be able to combat this?
