Need help choosing colours for living room
Comments (8)Thanks again :) Hadn't thought about Christmas! Oops, you're right of course, I will have to grab samples if I can and line them up and see what they look like. We've just had the window ripped out and the increase in light is amazing! This at least means I wont be too worried incorporating red in fear of the room looking too dark. The chair rail is a good idea, I'm assuming it's similar to what I referred to as a dado rail? Wooden trim halfway height around the room? We've just ripped ours off, haha, merely because I wanted to completely change the look of the room. Hmm, maybe I've been premature with that decision, it would have allowed me to add a strong colour and still be able to balance it.... Our children are now grown up, one left home, one back and forwards as attending University so no issues with small sticky fingers. However, we do have an incredibly energetic springer spaniel, so I do need the option to 'paint over' any areas he decided he particularly likes! :D...See MoreFront elevation - Please help us choose which design to go for
Comments (21)Always intrigued by how different people have such strong and mixed views on choices like this! No 2 is my personal preference - looks more modern and "integral". I find the other 2 designs look like after-thought bolt-ons and make it look like an older house that's trying to be something it is not. The middle design doesn't feel that way to me. But it's only a personal view.... ;-) Caldicot Kichens...See Morehelp me choose paint colours ASAP!
Comments (4)The dark colour should be below the dado rails and lighter colours above otherwise it will feel like a tunnel. It will depend how much light you get and is the room North or South facing? Colours will differ and feel cold if it is North facing. Choose warmer for North and cooler colours for South facing room. I like the Shaded White range shown above. Patch test a wall area and watch the colour change during the day....See MoreRoller or sectional garage doors
Comments (6)Both roller and sectional garage doors have their own advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Here are some key differences between the two types of garage doors to help you make an informed decision: Roller garage doors: Space-saving: Roller garage doors are ideal for garages with limited headroom, as they roll up vertically into a compact roll above the opening, allowing for more overhead space. Easy to operate: Roller garage doors can be operated manually or electrically, and they are often easier to operate than sectional doors due to their simple design. Security: Roller garage doors can be very secure, as they are made from sturdy materials and often have additional security features like locking bars or remote controls. Limited design options: Roller garage doors have fewer design options than sectional doors, and they typically come in a limited range of colors and styles. Sectional garage doors: Aesthetic options: Sectional garage doors are available in a wide range of styles, colors, and finishes, making it easier to find a door that matches your home's architecture and design. Insulation: Sectional garage doors offer better insulation than roller doors, which can help to reduce heating and cooling costs and make your garage more comfortable. Space-consuming: Sectional garage doors require more space than roller doors, as they open up and outwards along a horizontal track. More complex operation: Sectional garage doors are more complex than roller doors, and may require more maintenance over time. They also typically require a more powerful motor to operate, which can be more expensive. Overall, both roller and sectional garage doors have their advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your specific needs and priorities. Consider factors such as space requirements, security, aesthetics, and budget when making your decision....See Morejenna
