I have bought wevet for the living room and enough to cover the rest of this open area living . However I would to know if pavilion grey doors and skirting would be a good idea.
I have bought the paint for good or bad!
Alternatively , would you suggest white doors and alchitraves and ammonite on the wall opposite the fireplace ( as wevet goes pink when the sun shines directly in it in this south facing room) also thinking of ammonite on the wall with all the patio doors in the kitchen and wevet opposite ? Wevet in utility with pavilion grey alchitraves and skirting - advice or confirmation this is ok would be helpful ! Happy to go with dimpse instead of ammonite as I have this in the hallway. More s dilemma of what colour to do doors and alchitraves if I have wevet and ammonite on the walls. Thank you !!

Comments (24)I’m struggling to find a way to have a kitchen/island (really would like an island to have useable counterspace), generous dining table (seating for at least 6 people) and a sitting area in the same room if we don’t open up the wall between the current front and back living rooms. Would it make more sense to have part of the garage incorporated into the kitchen? There is a slight difference in floor level though between the garage and kitchen (Step down into the garage). Comments (5)I think I’d put the tv under the stairs with a small sofa opposite, you should be able to add a small accent chair opposite the sofa. Round dining table by the patio door and I’d get comfy chairs for extra seating for guests. Use a rug, art, lights etc for zoning the areas. I’ve found this pic with the same layout to what you’ve suggested for removing the kitchen wall. I’d probably block off the kitchen door so you can include tall units on that right hand wall (similar to 2nd pic albeit this is bigger). You may be able to extend the peninsula slightly under the stairs. In any case I think I’d contact a concept planner on here such as OnePlan for your kitchen design! Comments (28)I agree with everyone saying that open plan is good if you have a dedicated enclosed space for a snug or second living room. My son is an architect and he has seen a major change with people requesting ways to separate spaces to revert back to a more traditional layout. What about privacy for those moments when kids bring their friends over, they really do not want parents listening and being in their space! Designing a space for a growing family means trying to future proof the footprint. No matter how quiet appliances are meant to be, they will end up irritating you. We have a coffee machine, extractor fan, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, kettle in our current kitchen and are lucky enough to be able to move the kitchen into a 10sqm study to create a separate utility and then build a rear extension with a kitchen / diner / snug. We also have a ground floor loo and living room on the other side of the house. The noise of appliances we find exceptionally intrusive, partitions and half height walls may help reduce the noise but won’t eliminate them. Have you also thought about where you will store the kids toys, books etc and how easily you will be able to hide food preparation and washing etc from visitor? I do like the idea of having sliding doors if that is at all possible to zone off spaces when you do want a quiet area....See Moreaustralasia78

I also had similar thoughts with my open plan living room, kitchen.. it’s a little smaller than yours but I took the plunge with a deep blue, grey & kitchen & love it! Really makes the units pop & goes well with my copper & grey living room. The photos might give you an idea.. of the stages..

I’ve got Dulux polished pebble in the lounge, it’s a lovely pale grey which instantly made the lounge feel calm but warm. The kitchen is Crown City life which is now discontinued, but you can still get it at colour mixing centres apparently!
I tested tons of paints, I know what you’re going through!
This was a pic I found on Pinterest which inspired me to go dark in the kitchen..
