Comments (4)If you put the main tv in the area with the French doors - could you see your son from the kitchen ? ( it looks like you could )... I've put together a very quick sketch of an idea to make the most of that beautiful fireplace nook - with a couple of fireside chairs - have either a round display table ( flowers /family photos etc) in the bay or add seating and use as an alternative dining / homework table ? With your 2.5 and 2.3m sofa in the French room end ... If you enable tv viewing /games etc in a tablet it could open up more opportunity too ?! Even if it's fixed in different places rather than hand held if that could be a problem ? [marketing note - this is an example of a sketch consultation service that OnePlan offer . Normal rates would be £35ph. But in this instance, we are happy to have helped this Houzzer FOC ]...See MoreIs your home too big, too small or perfect?
Comments (8)You get used to the space very quickly and just as quickly fill it up with furniture. The feeling of space is great and as a new build I doubt heating will be an issue with insulation standards. I would suggest creating a feeling of space, lots of storage and light are crucial. 1.5 acre garden is very large, especially with a baby. I used to have just under half an acre and spent forever getting no where with weeding and cutting grass. I literally planted hundreds of trees as a wind belt and for decoration and you will need a ride on mower. Does give you space for a play area, patio, veg and fruit garden etc....See MoreWhat would you do to this family room?
Comments (41)I always thought your sitting area was cosy, and it’s even more so now. It looks the sort of space you want to snuggle into to watch a good movie. Liking the shelving. Decor is ever evolving in my house and we have a rule “One in, one out” - helps keep down the clutter. Not that I follow it very often...........See Moresmall apartment layout help - dimensions & floor plan included!
Comments (8)I would get a smallish drop-leaf table with two comfortable dining chairs for you and your roommate's eating area. I suggest no barstools - they take up too much real estate. Guests. Ask them to bring a cushion or a folding chair because you don't have enough chairs. I lived in a very tiny place and my guests were happy enough to sit on the floor - 90 minute party, max. Serve VERY good food. Separate the living and dining areas by color/style and/or an area rug for the living room that will compliment your furniture. Decorators siggest that the front legs of living room furniture be placed on the rug if the rug is too small to fit under all of the furniture. If you get a sisal rug, be sure to use a rug pad. Sisal can be like sandpaper on the wood finish of your floors. I would NOT put a rug in the kitchen. Use washable foot fatigue rubber mats instead. Best wishes....See More- 6 years ago
