often there is a legacy effect of a structure like a conservatory and people tend to build out in the same place- It would be good to know how much room is at the side because you could knock the kitchen and utility together then build a new utility on the side. If you could post the whole house plan and a picture of the back I am sure that people will have ideas. As far as photo inspiration goes there are literally thousands of images on this site. Look at the photos and save the ones you like.

Wow that looks beautiful, I am jealous of the brick. We wanted a very similar colour brick but the council wouldn’t allow and I didn’t want the red brick so we went with blocks and hopefully crisp render. We started our build towards end of Jan. Double extension, the foundations laid and then had the structural engineer out and final final details drawn up. The ground floor blocks have been laid and the scaffold has gone up so don’t know how long that will take. Our builders seem on track and have said August finish but I think it will be September/October Tani how many bedrooms did you have built and how many rooms downstairs? Also from start date to now what has the time scale been? Xx

Hi Kel, Definitely agree you need to add some colour and accessories. However before you can pick a colour its all about how you want the room to feel? Do you want it to feel warm, bright or cocoon like and cosy? Once you can describe how you want the room to feel it's easier to come up with the colours. Let me know how you want the room to feel and I can suggest some colours for you. In terms of the wall with the cupboard I suggest creating a gallery wall by a way of adding your personality, interest and more colour! I wouldn't add any furniture here as this area looks like the entry point for the room so you'd want to avoid blocking this area and instead create flow. I recommend a small bench perhaps in a natural material like wood to go under the bay window so that the light can enter and not block the view. I also recommend changing the blinds to either shutters and or curtains. I feel like there needs to be softer elements in this room as the kitchen units look nice and modern but that can sometimes lack character so you want to add as much character back into the room. Sonia how lovely that your pet cat is getting you through what must be challenging times. My house is ‘finished’ in the sense that I got to 85% done and though ‘this’ll do’ . Before and after pics of the latest project below. But the new dream is to build our own house in a couple of years, so I can see myself back on here full time soon!
