Comments (9)Hi. It's quite difficult to work out the whole room from the pics and exactly what your style is. If the room can take it I'd go for a mid tone grey on the walls so there isn't as much contrast with the sofas but if not a pale but warm grey. Swap the rug for something plain but with texture so a natural coloured sisal for instance so it doesn't make the room feel smaller with such a contrast between rug and floor. I'd use orange as the accent colour so maybe grey patterned curtains with orange cushions and additional artwork. It may also be worth considering blinds rather than curtains to give the sofa some space. I would also pick another colour like green or teal etc to liven it up for just a couple of accessories. Use a mixture of textured and patterned cushions. put something in the middle of the dining table be it a plant or flowers or vase etc. also consider the lighting as table and floor lamps will add a cosy feel. Can you move the dining table so it's central under the light and add a feature pendant (maybe with some orange!)? The existing art looks as if it is hung a little high so would rehang a few inches lower and align over the sofa. Is it a table in front of the tv? Can that be moved in front of the sofa and accessorised? A plant and a couple of piles of books are cheap accessories! Comments (7)Hi DaliaMarco, what a lovely room! You've made a great start with your scheme. I really like the blue you've chosen. To brighten things up a little, you could choose a colour pop. The complement to blue is orange, so you could get a few cushions in a bright orange, perhaps a lamp or two and some artwork that draws these colours together. Your rug is a little pale, and a stronger colour and pattern would bring more interest. I would also suggest that you need some height in the room. Consider including a standard lamp, or use a big canvas or picture to draw the eye upwards too. If you don't like orange, try out a few different colour palettes. Comments (40)We were going for the 3 seater + the chaise, so it'd be wide. Then the footstool as well so when it's just us two we can create 2 chaises for ultimate comfort. We considered a 3 seater + 2 seater but the room is awkwardly shaped / laid out for that. We wanted something large enough for multiple people to sit on if we have visitors. The 3 seater on its own with the footstool would make for smaller width as you'd lose the + chaise seat, know what I mean? Unless we did a 3 seater plus a chair. With the TV in one corner and the wood stove in the other, I can't figure out how to place two sofas without one of them being back / side on to something or blocking it....See MoreBringing together colours in kitchen/living/dining room

6 years agoIt looks as if everything is new since last posting except the sofas? Are you able to take a couple more pics to can get a proper idea of the space? I think the curtains are really pretty and go with the style Of your new furniture so I'd use these colours for cushions (square apple green velvet with the rectangular patterned one in front). I'd reinstate a fire even if it's not a working one with just a surround and a grate with logs to create a focal point. It's impossible to choose art for someone but these are from Oka for over the sofa, as a group of prints can make quite an impact. I might paint the walls a warm, pale taupe

6 years agoThe curtains are definitely pretty. How does the room look with the coffee table and rug as it was in the last pic but with the sofas in an L shape? Can you move the sofa on the wall up a bit to include a floor lamp the other side? On the side table, I'd add a couple of extra bits, 3 of things always work well, maybe a photo frame and a candle or diffuser for a nice smell! (I'd also add something extra on the chest). I'd also accessorise the coffee table, books are always good (and normally a cheap "accessory"!) , maybe a plant in a rattan holder that can't do your child/ren damage. I haven't had a proper look but this is a small one from Ikea

6 years agoWell, you can not do much with the layout then. But get some nice fluffy cushions and some soft throw to soften and warm up the cold of the black leather. And please, change the curtain rod for the longer wall to wall and mount it right below the ceiling. You will see an instant improvement. Use only one tall plant on right side of the window and on the left side place a floor lamp roughly the same height to bring a symmetry. Make sure lamp shade is contrasting wall and curtains. TV is an issue. If you could remove one sofa away and place the TV instead.
