Agree with Bramwhite, with the dimensions above, you wouldn't fit an island in and have room to walk, open ovens etc. You also need to mark on the plan where that door is on the far wall as that's where the walk through starts and you don't want the island in the way, you certainly wouldn't be able to put stools up to it 3m just isn't wide enough. Are you having integrated appliances or keeping the washing machine in the pic? You also need to mark on the plan where the brick wall is on the right, how wide it is and where the window is also along that side. Basically, we need a plan to work from with all the dimensions please x

I'm not sure I understand why your kitchen can't be re-used if you extend sideways? Is that what you meant? The kitchen can be re-used wherever it is at the moment. Yes, you may need more units, but mix and match colourwise is in at the moment. Many people have a different coloured Island to the rest of the kitchen, so that shouldn't be a problem. Yes, you will incur costs with a steel on the side, but it is a standard build and you're not bolting steels together, so it really is relatively easy. You just have to get a structural engineer to work out the load and the steel required. The rest is brute force and donkey work for the builder. I would contact a few building companies - If I ever need help on a build I use MyBuilder. Tell them up front that your budget is 25K decked and finished, with a small contingency and that is also to re-use the kitchen. I usually find that if you stick with one firm, you get more for your money - makes sense, as they're earning more in one place, so, easier for them. If they can't do it for the price and make sure you get a fixed price quote, then they won't want the job and you can move on to the next one. Yes, you can save money by doing all the boarding out etc, then get the builder back to plaster, but if you don't know what you're doing with the electrics, plumbing etc, you can't board out successfully, you'll just create problems. So, try and get a fixed price quote first, you may be surprised.

I totally understand that. I just finalised a project for a client that had a very narrow and long kitchen, we used a narrow storage wall for this and it worked beautifully. One needn't necessarily "compromise" between bath and shower here; they're not entirely trivial to find but a small number of manufacturers make _square_ (or at least, near-square / wide) shaped bathtubs (Japanese soaking tub style) at about 120cm width. I've found: https://www.livinghouse.co.uk/acatalog/square-lounge-bath.html https://www.omnitub.co.uk/products/omnitub-duo-plus Such make a very luxurious bath (if money's no object, even a whirlpool / steam shower setting) while also providing more than ample space for great showering. Yes, you'd probably need to have some small steps built to enter the bath. And a concern would only be whether the floor is strong enough (when used as a bath, it makes a difference whether there's 300l or 150l water in the tub). Diagonally-installed corner baths may also be an option (quite a bit cheaper), something like: https://victoriaplum.com/product/orchard-wharfe-corner-bath-1200-x-1200 which would also allow a better shower experience than a 70cm-wide standard bath. Not as deep as a soaking tub / wouldn't need steps. If going for something like that, I would actually "box-off" the corner and turn it into shelving for storage, so the bath turns into a bit of an "enclosed niche", something like: I wouldn't go for a freestanding bathtub; the narrow spaces would make it challenging to clean.
