what size light pendant do I need for a 54" round table that extends. The dining living room are

a very open and large room-concept.

Thanks for the comments so far. I'm kind of thinking there's a hybrid option that isn't 1 or 2 and will probably cost a fortune, but until I find that solution, option 2 is definitely what I'm pulled towards. Oneplan, to answer your questions specifically: - The house is built on two floors - just three double bedrooms uptstairs. I'll be putting a small bathroom in upstairs as part of the project. - The "lobby" area is a vast overstatement on behalf of the estate agents when they were making the plan. "Pantry" would be a more appropriate word. Our builder mate suggested making the Pantry into a small shower and WC and converting the current downstairs bathroom into a utility room. - My kids are 4 and 5. - I haven't actually measured the porch up yet, although see comment below. - Regarding the question about the extension size. I borrowed the dimensions from a plan already submitted to the council for an exact same sized house (plans submitted before the govt relaxed planning rules). This size works because the garden is not so big. If I make the extension any bigger the garden will be really too small (and I want at least some space for the kids to run around in). Over a 1.6 mtr Island I would go for just the 2 as there is no Appliances in it spacing should be approx. 900mm centre to centre which would give 350mm centre to edge of island. the 3 pendants look good over the table but 3 might be a bit busy over an Island, one other thing to consider tho is the output of each light and if low output then maybe 3 could be better but without that information it is a bit hit and miss. Do you have downlights too , all these various elements go to towards the spread of light , so very little shadowing is best.

Hi Opun Team The teal blue will be going over the island/breakfast bar which is 2,7m x 1.6m and the cluster of three will be going over the dining table but not in the way shown in the picture (they will be a different heights and a bit closer together). The kitchen diner end of the room is 6.7m x 3.7m however the whole room is L shaped 8.6m width with bifolds . I will try and attach a plan. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi Angel This a a common questions and it always comes down to what minor things you can sacrifice to get the best of all worlds. Do I have a pendant to create a dining zone? Do I try and retain the view outside? Do I make the space versatile for parties? In my opinion a light over the table looks great if you do not have one already over the kitchen island (if you have one). Keep the light above head level (of most of your usual guests) so that you can talk to each other . It may be worth cutting out cardboard and offering it above the table to see what works for you. The light doesnt have to be too imposing it could be something light the light below. or maybe something that is a feature but still see through like the below There are not many rise and fall lights out there that can really reduce that much to be out of the way on a standard height ceiling but if you have tall ceilings then it could work.
