A little help with choosing the right carpet and matching wall paints
Comments (5)Ok I think I have found some colors to choose from. I was thinking this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/brinjal/colours/fcp-product/100222#) for wall 2 & 4 And this color (http://www.farrow-ball.com/charleston-gray///fcp-product/100243) for wall 1 & 3 I then thought that might be too dark so I then moved to these colors: For wall 2 & 4 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:rfuhcJloRGIJ:www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/alexandriabeige+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) And for wall 1 & 3 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:kA8fz-8Evt4J:www.benjaminmoore.ca/en-ca/paint-color/snowonthemountain+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk) Firstly do you agree on which walls hold the colors or do you think I should have contacting walls hold the colors i.e. Walls 1 & 2 the darker color and walls 3 & 4 the lighter. The sun comes through the window most of the day with it being a south facing window and in the morning sunrises on wall 4 and sets on wall 2. Secondly do you think I am on the right tracks with these colors and a similar carpet to what yoboseiyo suggested. Thanks again for any help -Gs...See MoreWhat colour should we paint our small, modern open plan kitchen living
Comments (51)Wow yes lots to waken up to and I'm so grateful for the help! Thanks so much! I tried mforr to find one o those room colouring things for a shop here in the uk and whilt you can do it with dulux paint brand, it didnt seem to like my iPad so need to get onto it on my laptop! Having slept on it I'm thinking I like the idea of doing the kitchen only in colour, and then having highlights of the colour in the LR with cushions perhaps. We considered curtains too but I'm not sure if it would crowd the LR. We are sure that the coffee table is too big also, but I love it (it has a glass top and we can present things in the drawer below). We also have no dining table so this is our only space for setting out food! I'm still liking the green, but the yellow goes well too. We have a tea/coffee jars on our kitchen work top (might be just visible in the pictures) which are green yellow and grey, so if I bring these along to the DIY shop they could colour match those for me. (Along with the list you sent me too mforr!) I will def be back on to show you all the results!! :)...See MoreCan this poor dining area be given character?
Comments (12)Hi Zach, I have read through the comments and was looking to see if you rearranged the room to incorporate a table. However, with the layout as is, you may want to consider a Console table that turns into a Dining Table. There are loads at varying price points to choose from. I have added a contemporary style below that may be of use with your scheme. This table is on offer, reduced by 30% to £192.50 from http://www.laredoute.co.uk/ Gallina Folding Console Dining Table. What I like about it is the position of the legs and the light oak may compliment your Ercol side table etc. (It also comes in grey). It can be used as a Desk with the chair facing the wall , or as a daily Dining Table with one chair against the back positioned on the Kitchen wall and the other facing the wall. When you do have guests for a dinner party, you can adjust the Living room and just pull out the table out and add two folding chairs (that are stored elsewhere). Personally, I love the colour of the Living Room and would continue this colour all around the room and under the stairs as it would help to make the room appear larger. It also appears to be a bright room and with your light coloured flooring and armchair, would look great. With regard to lighting. I see you have a power point under the stairs. Before painting, I would ask your Electrician to channel up the wall, add a funky, contemporary wall light and make good. This would allow you to have a dimmable wall light that you could use as a task light and dim for a more intimate dinner. David Village Lighting have a great website and I have used them on many occasions. You may want to take a look at Artemide on their site. The alternative, if you did not want to use the same colour paint throughout the room would be to add a funky geometric wipeable or vinyl wallpaper. I love Elitis, Cole and Son, Tektura, etc. As you would need such a small amount, it would not be too costly. Elitis have some funky options and Cole and Son Geometric and Geometric ll could look great and have the tones that could compliment the style of your room. With regard to the two chairs that would sit by the table on a daily basis. I would potentially look at a couple of replica sites . i.e. Swiveluk.com, Bluesuntree, Vertigo etc. and pick chairs that are not too wide. (Ideally stackable). For reference, I did a job where we stored the two spare stackable chairs in the bedroom where we installed a storage bed with loads of storage under the mattress. Good luck with everything:-) Susan...See MoreWhat colour would you paint these kitchen units?!
Comments (35)I'm in Northern Ireland and used Dee Light Furniture Facelifts NI. He has a Facebook page with lots of photos of his work showing lots of colours so its worth a look there. His standard of work is excellent and came highly recommended by word of mouth. He also builds this tear drop caravans to order! I think it was worth paying someone as he made our existing doors and drawers look brand new filling the holes from the old handles. We could never have done that to his standard...See MorePaul Bale
