Windows Design Dilemma

What colour frames?!

Can anyone tell me what colour frames look right on bifolds?
We've just started our extension and I had imagined dark grey inside and outside.
There will be a white framed window and a lantern in the roof which will be grey on the outside and white on the inside.
Any opinions on the bifolds?

Hi we have anthracite bifolds/windows in our extension which work well with the F&B strong white walls. The extension is red brick exterior & initially we were going for a lighter frame but the lead time didn’t match the build time frame so we plummeted for anthracite. What colour is the exterior of your house? That may help you decide. It’s also down to personal choice as to whether to match the colour of all of the frames or to have a different coloured bifolds.

Thanks LTS, it sounds lovely.

Our exterior is rendered and painted cream. Interior will be white. We're now thinking grey bifolds and lantern inside and out. Just got to chooee a floor! Decisions are hard!!

As others have said, fixing the clutter and adding art will help. I know you said you have a print going to the framers; that's great. (I like simple, black frames, personally, but the frame needs to work with the art.) The only thing you have hanging on the wall is way under scaled. You don't really have a dominant design element or something for the eye to latch on to. So the eye just sort of floats around the room. I don't care for the wall color. It's rather bland and causes everything to blend together. I'd have to think about what it could be changed to a little more. This might seem sort of ironic since I am saying your current wall color is bland, but white could work very well. It would give you contrast to you floor. Also you have sort of a modern vibe going with the dining table, chairs, and light fixture; and white walls can work well for modern rooms. So here's the big thing, and I don't think you're going to like it. Right now, your chandelier / light fixture is in the middle of the room, and you don't have anything over the dining table. You need to move the light fixture to over the table, lower it, and add art to the wall behind the table. This will create a nice, intimate atmosphere for dining while helping to define the dining space. This is going to mess with your projection system, but it would totally change the room.

You have a beautiful home,and there seems to be a lot of windows. I too am changing my windows but before I made a decision I took a picture of my house and got a friend to photoshop the style of window that I liked and also to change the colour until I was happy,I just thought with such a big purchase it was worth it. White would work well I'm sure,but here's a picture with something of a slightly different look,hope it helps and good luck.

Beautiful bathroom! Love your floor tiles. Our bathroom (mainly bathstore too!) was just finished a week and half ago in a black/white/grey colour scheme, a mix of classical and contemporary styles. I agree with what others have suggested about adding colour with plants (orchids maybe?), towels, bath mat and pictures but have you thought about painting the mirror cabinet unit? Annie Sloan chalk paint is great as coverage is good and no priming is required. Also colourful bottles of bath and shower gels, shampoo and conditioners can liven up a bathroom. Molten brown stuff or even decanting into ornate glass or ceramic bottles can add a touch of glamour to your bathroom.

Hi minnie yeah that’s probably the best option...I was just being lazy & was hoping to order online! I don’t think I’ve posted any pics yet as it isn’t finished (just getting over a persistent bug & then hopefully it will be all systems go!) need to get a new table with lower backed chairs, add the wooden breakfast bar to the island, stools & accessorise. Here’s a pic I took a few months back, the floor looks more subtle irl :)

Hi, it is personal preference, but we do do a lot of bi-olds for clients where they match the same ocular with the windows, but also may just want anthracite grey bifolds with white windows. the other option we do is dual colour where you could have grey external framed doors and white on the inside which is a popular one...

Hi, anthracite grey with cream rendering is a very nice contrast and the tones compliment each other well. (Sorry, the pic is sliding doors not bifolds)

Grey doors with white windows is not a faux pas so don't be put off...

Finally, two-tone doors are an option if you want to match the lantern, having grey or black outside and white inside, however I always think this looks a little odd when the doors are open as you see the alternate colours together, and the inside of the frames on the hinges too. Horses for courses though. There are options for every taste out there.
