I dont want it with both benches. Thanks

Although some great vintage pieces can be sanded and repainted to really fine new life that you can enjoy.. I think it's probably the shape and style that you don't like rather than finish or colour.. there also doesn't seem to be much wrong with it which would mean it necessarily needs to be 'changed' ..so I agree with Jen P, the best thing you can do is sell to someone who can enjoy them for what they are and buy something more useful to you in memory of your inheritance :) something just aren't meant to be.

You have a fairly neutral backdrop and a lovely dining set. I'd definitely get some art work and lights above the table to detract from the heater (maybe replace the heater with a more modern vertical heater if in budget). If you don't have colour in the space already, I'd consider a painted or wallpapered feature wall, depending on your style.

I think they go well with the table. What about this as an alternative? I've got them in a formal dining room, they're from Lombok. I couldn't quite afford real wishbones and wasn't too sure of the quality of the faux ones around. Perhaps post pics of the living space though

It's a lovely room. Are you buying new furniture or trying to make your existing furniture work because an L shaped sofa might work well in the space and allow for two separate zones. Also, how many people do you need seating for? Can you get away with a small dining table for every day that extends for visitors?
