you should consult an engineer/architect for this to draw up the building plans to submit to the city. After all, you'll need to replumb, move electrical, ensure there are no venting issues, since it's attached to a shop make sure the fire rating of the wall is up to code. A $300 stud wall sounds like the least of your possible issues :)

Hello all, I would love to update my lounge (at relatively low cost), with paint, maybe a new rug, and accessories to make it look more fresh and up to date. I need to keep the furniture and sofas. I do love a cosy feel and want to keep it looking quite warm. I have included pictures of my stair walls which I recently painted in a colour by Colour Courage in 'Cozy Atmosphere' (CA) which I love and thought about bringing this colour into my lounge. I like the idea of different coloured walls and as the 'CA' colour is darker than my current colour (Dutch gold), I wondered which walls to paint in this and then I thought maybe a diluted CA colour for the other walls? Any comments welcome. many thanks in advance! :)

My first thought was get some nice thick seat cushions. There are loads online and you can get several to fill the seating area, or have some bespoke ones made to fit perfectly. Obviously you will need to store them somewhere when it rains or during the winter.

Yes, it is very white - it has photographed very stark - but as you have indicated you like color, am wondering what color you have in your furniture? The photo's show that the blue rug and color framed prints stand out brilliantly against the white, so thinking you may find your furniture brings in color. The white does seem to help the kitchen at the end get some light, rather than being a dark area. It might be worth getting your furniture there to see what it does in the space, and then consider your wall color. You may just need to go for a warmer white to soften the space.
