What a beautiful and perfect table you found! Hubba hubba - those legs are just gorgeous. Well done and thanks for calling out to me. As for the chair mix, I think four beige and two merlot would be lovely. I think you like a traditional look, so I'm a bit worried that you won't be happy with it. If the table will normally be smaller with four beige chairs around it and maybe put the two merlot ones on either side of the radiator cover/"console", then definitely do the mix. Mismatched chairs around a dining table are often all different or the same make and model in a multitude of colours or the same colour in different styles. Do a Houzz search and see if you can find your planned mix and if you like the look. If in doubt, get four beige and look at them for a while! You could tie the two chair colours together with little cushions on the chairs - maybe just on the two merlot ones. Yes they are a good price! I've found a few tables. 2nd is from habitat £495, 1st is an Ercol table designed for John Lewis £499, 3rd is also John Lewis, it has a concrete top but is 160cm in length but dearer at £795. I'm struggling to find anything in cream of a suitable style that would seat 4! there are lots of cross leg and trestle tables around but depends if you want the chair legs to shine! I assume you've looked at made.com already?

When you say some other materials what do you mean. As it's a dining room I'm a little limited as to what other materials I can have. The lights are ceramic and the chairs are fabric so thought that was a contrast. I do have the living room part at the other end of the room that will have a huge comfortable couch plus a rug. I am not a fan of rugs under dining tables from a practicality /hygiene point of view. The other lights I like are these. They are metal and have holes so a little light will come out. I would either paint them white (I paint for a living and these shades are only 27 pounds each so are worth upcycling!! I would need 7 of these. Or if paint them in pastel colours and do some upholstery in the chair tops with white frames. I LOVE the white with the wood. I don't want anything too traditional. I'm going for pendants with E 27 fitting so I can have LED lights brightest that I can. Thanks for responding. Would love to Hear other comments too.

I would get a smallish drop-leaf table with two comfortable dining chairs for you and your roommate's eating area. I suggest no barstools - they take up too much real estate. Guests. Ask them to bring a cushion or a folding chair because you don't have enough chairs. I lived in a very tiny place and my guests were happy enough to sit on the floor - 90 minute party, max. Serve VERY good food. Separate the living and dining areas by color/style and/or an area rug for the living room that will compliment your furniture. Decorators siggest that the front legs of living room furniture be placed on the rug if the rug is too small to fit under all of the furniture. If you get a sisal rug, be sure to use a rug pad. Sisal can be like sandpaper on the wood finish of your floors. I would NOT put a rug in the kitchen. Use washable foot fatigue rubber mats instead. Best wishes.
