Hi. Need your worthy opinions for bathroom redesigning

Hi I want to change the looks of bathroom.
Height 12feet
length 7feet
Width 4 feet

I will welcome everyone's ideas. Issue is we keep spending money to bring freshlook but don't succeed but we don't know much about interior designing (colours and lights).
There is only one ventilation for light. Basically its an old design bathroom. I am looking for a simple and space hacking idea. Also tell me how to increase light.

Hi Shahzaib

As a designer I always find it works really well if you can create 2 circuits in the bathroom, one for low level lighting and one for main lighting. As you can see in the first picture below we used Altea Mini uplighters to create the effect for uplighting and floor washing which offers ambient and indirect lighting if you want that candlelight experience. For overhead lighting we would usually opt for downlighters in the form of the Atlas or the Eiger as both are IP44 rated for the bathroom and offer a baffled anti glare light. If you have the opportunity, niche lighting also works for background lighting, please see the second image in which we used the Selene niche led.

I'm also looking to change the venity, tiles, paint colour and flush too.
What should be suitable place for venity shower and flush.

Hi Sue. Your question caught my eye because, here at Big Bathroom Shop, we often receive enquiries regarding how to make the most of bathroom space. Not surprising considering that the UK has some of the smallest living spaces in all the Europe! So, I decided to have our specialist bathroom design team look at your sketch, and following are a few idea's we think might be helpful. First of all, as has been mentioned, you will really need to move your door- if it is a stud wall, this won't be too big a job. You could move the door left or right. Let's assume you move it to the right; next to the cloakroom door. That would mean you could then place the bath along the left hand wall. You would really need to think about buying a smaller basin and there are a range of options available to you here. You could consider a compact vanity, which will also provide what may prove to be some much needed storage space. Or you could consider a corner basin or, simply, a small wall mounted basic. All of these options free up a good amount of space. This would leave you plenty of room to install a walk in shower; 800 or possibly even 900mm. You might also want to install a small basin in the adjoining cloackroom. Something to bear in mind, and a favourite saying of our resident expert, Stephen, is that you "aren't having a party in there!" At the end of the day, the amount of floor space that you need to have available is just enough to swing a towel about your shoulders. With this in mind you can work wonders, even in the smallest of spaces. Hi Denisa, I'm an architect and run a practice in London. I don't think you should rearrange the sanitary ware or fill in the window. Here's why: - The current configuration can work and will save time and money by keeping the plumbing in the same locations. - Getting rid of a window will reduce the amount of light and I think you have other options for storage. As well as your other suggestions, I attach a sketch of what I think you should do: - Move boiler to other location. - Knock down all partitions and remove doors. Retain part of the partition between the stair and current boiler / proposed shower. - Behind the door to the bathroom you could have a large cupboard [marked 'store' on the sketch]. Doing this will create a much larger bathroom without costly reconfiguration of plumbing. If a shower is a tight squeeze, you can get smaller baths... Hope that helps. Stephen

Hi, the shower cubicle is 1300 x900mm, making the laundry cupboard around 1m x 1.3m, it takes two 60cm IKEA units and a filler piece. The sink in these pictures is in a metre wide unit, but in other drawings I've popped it in an 80cm unit. Realistically, there is only a 40cm diagonal gal between the toilet and the sink to walk through to get to the shower, and the distance between bath and sink is 57cm. I was anticipating having the shower concealed in the stud wall, so assumed there would be a need for pipes. I hope this makes sense, adding dimensions to the plan is tricky, I'm playing around with sketchup to try a get more precise idea of door sizes and architrave. Thank you!

Thanks pjbell! My first thought was 'no way, we use bedroom 2 and can't lose it - far too radical'. But then I stopped and looked and actually, that may well be worth considering! All bedrooms are in use - bedroom 2 is our studio/craft room/office. Kids are in the back bedroom and top floor. I've got my heart set on an en-suite and keeping our large bedroom but have been mindful of making the studio too small so was opting for a small shower room. I've been pondering if there is anything we could do to have a larger family bathroom but couldn't see how. This could give a large family bathroom and more luxurious en-suite. The back room is south facing so would be much better for a studio - its worth seeing the size if we split into two bedrooms. I do like the fact that all bedrooms are decent doubles and wouldn't want them much smaller. We are going to be here for the next 10-15 years and will then look to downsize when the kids have flown the nest. This will be the only major work we'll do so although it needs to be right for us, I also want it to be as appealing as possible to the next family. Definitely food for thought - thanks!

Hi Shahzaib

Although we have great design taste we are more lighting designers than interior designers. However in my my opinion , it might be simple to keep the layout the same as this will mean all the plumbing could remain in the same place . I might consider boxing in the cistern and running that boxing along the right wall, forming your own storage and then mounting a semi recessed sink for a more modern look .
