Please help me improve our ensuite bathroom...
Comments (17)Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to comment. It's really tricky taking good photos as the space is so tight, but I will attach another photo and sketch to give a better idea of the space. Daisy- the photo was stretched, I didn't realise my portrait photo would be converted to landscape. So the sink is just set into a 50cm wide unit. I think the idea of moving the sink to the current bidet position is a good one, although as you'll see from the sketch there's very little wall on the left of the window so not much space for a mirror in front of the sink. Carolina- I love that photo! The bit I can't quite get is how the shower door would work if the shower head remained on the right (all the shower controls/electrics are on the other side of the wall, taking up space in a wardrobe!!) and the sink was on the left. whizzywig- the door opens out (my sketch should show it now) and the photo was taken from outside the door. I think the distance you asked for is 74cm. And yes, we queried the plumbing for a wc when we bought the house, but unfortunately it's not there - they said they didn't like the idea of a loo near their bed!!!...See MoreNarrow galley kitchen with dark slate floor needs uplift
Comments (1)You'll get more responses if you repost this in the design dilemas bit. There's no images or dimesions to go from but here's my thoughts, bearing in mind budget is a big consideration: - Kitchen Leave the windows as they are, you can create a sense of light with reflective materials and light colours. Leave the slate floor - it's hardwearing and easy to clean You could try replacing just the cupboard door fronts, as long as the carcasses themselves are in good shape - if budget doesn't allow then you could paint them a pale grey instead to match the floor. Replace the work surfaces with a light counter top. Shop around for appliances - there are some great places local to me that do slight seconds, you can grab a bargain and often it's just there's a scratch on the side or top where you won't see it anyway. Bathroom There are some great space saving bathroom ideas out there . Some people don't mind not having a bath but bear in mind you could reduce your appeal to some renters if you take it out and you'll definitely reduce the property's saleability (this may not worry you if you're in it for the long term). Ask a local estate agent for their advice - they'll know the local market better. I'm pretty sure there was a story about the owners of this house, where they took the bath out to create this lovely shower room - I can't find the story but there's a link to the project below - it's a great example of how to do it well https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/villa-refurbishment-glasgow-contemporary-bathroom-glasgow-phvw-vp~58208653...See MoreBathroom floor tiles - which ones?
Comments (7)I like both tiles but if you're going for a plain, dark navy tile (?) in the shower I think the softer pattern will work better. The dark tile also appears to be black which wouldn't look as good with navy imo. Some coral accessories/art will break up the blue grey. What colour Is the bath, vanity etc? In terms of dirt a mid tone is better, light and dark both show dirt however I'd guess the lighter tile may be marginally better with its pattern...See MoreBathroom roller blind advice please
Comments (2)I have a bright aqua geometric blind in my bathroom. I think a bright fuchsia pink would look good? However, I do love a bit of colour!...See MoreSonia
