Could you please tell me the type of wood/stain used for the cabinets and ceiling? Thank-you

Hello Bonnie!

The ceiling is rift and quartered white oak with a clear finish. The cabinets are made of walnut with a clear finish.

Whatever you decide to do with that side wall, I would suggest that you keep the idea of an "art gallery" in mind. The furnishings/accessories you currently have in the room are strongly suggestive of this theme. Even your kitchen is very "artsy". For the buffet/bar, I would suggest three ideas. The first picture is of a mid-century modern console. If you are into the eclectic idea, some wood would bring some warmth to the space while at the same time keeping with the modern vibe. The second picture stays very closely with what you already have in the room - black, sleek, modern but also brings in a bit of wood for warmth. The third picture goes in an even more eclectic direction with a very ornate console painted in a gloss black. All three ideas would work so it's really up to your personal taste. For the shelves above the bar/buffet, I would go with all glass as in the fourth picture. I would try to keep most of the barware in clear glass so that the items on the shelf will still have a "lightness" to them. Keep books, etc. in the drawers in the console. Liquor could be arranged on a mirrored tray on the console itself. Keep clutter to a minimum. I'd still like to see some art on that wall, too. Another idea would be the last photo, which is my least favorite, but, again, its a matter of preference. Replace the green portion of the wall with red and I would do the wooden cabinetry in black and the shelf in glass. One more idea, to bring the red into the lounge area, consider a red rug with a sculpted design to fit under the entire sofa area. Thank you so much Tani, Carolina and So-Real for taking the trouble to reply and for such good ideas and photos as well! I am torn between which way to go! If I box up to the window sill should I go up to the left hand corner of the room next to the current basin but presumably this will affect the basin width-wise if I do put it there? The current one is 60cm wide so I could get away with the protrusion as the boxing is already there but would it look ok coming out along there? Or as you say I could put the toilet where the sink is and add a basin on a countertop under teh window. The window sill is 86cm high and I cannot seem to get the dimensions for one of the countertop ones on Google which is frurstrating but will keep trying! In my other bathroom the sink height is 82cm so that could possibly work.... What do you think? Thanks again

Hi Sunny, I'm guessing the layout is like this then? Which is why you wanted a 900mm wide shower. I'd actually go with the 900 x 1200 as it's longer and will suit the room better, plus, if the layout is like this, then you have the room for it. Here's a link to all those in that size from Victorian Plumbing, so depends what your style is. Victorian Plumbing. They sell loads, so i'm sure you'll be able to find one that will suit. One thing to watch out for is the size of the basin and toilet. You will be better off with a short projection toilet and don't come out too far with the basin either as the space to exit out of the bath will be lessened. Regards to flooring, tiles etc, that's personal choice. What style do you like, what colours do you like, and most importantly what is your budget for the project?
