Hallway colour please.

I finally finshed having my hallway floor put down .It a black and white design which i designed myself .We chose kind of beige pink tiles.I would like to know what colour to do on my walls .i live in a Mediterranean place so i have plenty of sunlight coming inside. Here are the pictures not very amature im afraid .

Hi. Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area, I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room.... Please check out my website if like the idea and please get in contact, commission work is also welcomed so if you like a particular style I can do in a select colour palette and size but with this it can only be done as a original piece and not a print.....but all prints i can do to the same size or smaller than my original paintings, so lots of options. www.GuigsART.co.uk

Thank you for your ideas, minnie - I wish we could keep the wallpaper, as it is (or was) nice. Unfortunately, it is very 'tired' and looks dirty. We are definitely getting a carpet for the stairs, and unfortunately, we can't afford to put new wallpaper up, at the moment - we have enough magnolia paint (donated to us) to do the whole area, but I wanted to add a touch of soft colour to it. The carpet we are getting is very similar to the photo I have attached. As you have suggested, I have also attached a couple of photos of the hallway without the paint. Thank you again :D

Reds (cherry) are hard to compliment IMO. Definitely white for the banisters so it's bright and contrasts with the floor. Perhaps a grey tone for the walls as that'll be neutral with the flooring colour.
