Need help with the furniture/arrangement of the living room!
Comments (8)Black and White never goes out of style and the light in your room is killer! If you're into something chic and interesting find the artwork first. It does not have to be expensive at all. Color and size will be the most important things to focus on. To tie the fireplace and the cabinet together, use several pieces of art, maybe a mirror, and one or two white objects hung on the wall. One piece of art (a poster, print, or photo) should be larger than the rest and hung over the FP. Then build the arrangement out to include the wall over your cabinet. Treat the cabinet like a Bar by placing a tray and drinkware on top. I think that putting furniture in a loose and casual arrangement will look awsome and allow you to move things around according to the occassion. A loveseat with a curvy back and unmatched chairs will keep it feeling open and light. An animal hide rug and one tall floor lamp swooping over from the side of the window and giving you light at the center of the room might work for you. When you have a group of people coming say for dinner, a round expandable table in the alcove can be a plus. All the best with your place, it's killer!...See MoreAll around window: how furniture the living room
Comments (22)Hello everyone, Sorry that I didn't reply before. Believe or not, it's been almost 2 months without internet. I moved to the new flat and it is just amazing. I had a problem with the curtains, blinds, etc. I couldn't fit any of it because the rail would be where the door opens (ceiling), so I would loose over 40cm throughout the whole window. So I've choose something a bit unusual but very, very beautiful: duette blinds. About the furniture, we've decided to do a bar/shelve unit behind the sofa and the sofa will be looking toward the window (if you know what a mean). In front of the sofa, I will do a small tv unit. Therefore, I will not loose all the beautiful view that I've got. What do you think? Now I need to plan a bar/shelve unit behind the sofa. The designer gave me some ideas, but I found it very square-ish.... I really appreciate all the comments and the help. You all are good at it and have helped me a lot. Thank you, Talita Ps: I will take some pictures and I'll post to you if you want.......See MoreKitchen Living Dining Colour Scheme
Comments (3)Wrt colours - the more colours you introduce, the more careful you have to be. For that reason, I might be tempted to keep dining furniture and TV unit similar. You might also consider looking for, say, a dark walnut set of furniture with just a "hint" of the original lighter colour (say a thin inlay or doors in a lighter colour) to help tie everything together. Wrt sizes - I do not personally think the sizes have to be the same - instead, I would look carefully at your overall room layout and sizes and make sure that everythin is well proportioned for its location, and that proportions are broadly consistent. Try to get some CAD pictures of your preferred designs and see how they look to you!...See MoreNeed help with Scandi style furniture/colour scheme for living room
Comments (6)Hi, the space looks fantastic with those wooden stairs and rustic beams. I agree with the comment above about the sofa- would look and feel more comfy if you went for fully upholstered one. I think you could play with whites, greys, black and wood colours and chose one more to add: yellow, blue or even red/pink to fit your chair in. Whitewashed clay pots with green plants would add a lot of warmth as well: I am making oversized wooden clocks that could infuse your cottage with even more character, few examples and link to my website below: Peak Art Handmade Wall Clocks Anna...See Morerachelmidlands
