Pink paint shades for toddler’s room please...

Hi all,

I am looking for lovely shades of pink for my toddler’s room. I don’t want anything too bold or “Barbie” pink, but nor do I want a ‘barely there’ pink.

I looked at a couple of farrow and ball’s pinks but they didn’t match well with Valspar at b and q so giving them a miss.

I actually love this design and the shades (photo). Although the pink is perhaps too dark?

Suggestions please!?

I had this dilemma a couple of years ago for my daughters room... I wanted dusky pink - bit like in the picture. I couldn’t find anything, so I’m the end took a curtain to b&q to colour match a piece of pattern. To be honest it turned out quite a bold purpley pink, not dusky as I hoped. I’m used to it now and it isn’t a baby colour... good luck finding one

Have you looked at the Little Greene pinks?

When mixing paint colours, try a Johnstones decorator centre. They are pretty spot on with colour and the paint is a much higher quality than Valspar anyway.

Hi there. You want something quite warm and comfortable (rich), to help warm the greys and hard materials. I personally like 'pink ground' from Farrow and Ball. Pics attached. It does depend a lot of the individual shades grey you have in the room and the light on/in the space so I would agree with above that you are best to round up a few options and starting painting some samples out to check in the space. Its funny but I am liking the darker shades more and more. Always used to go for pastels but my tastes are evolving! The matchcards in your earlier pic, on the table, seem to be much lighter than the later pic with the fabric, not sure why. The middle colour, Paradise Found, seems to match the flower in the fabric very well so it would work. But I must be honest I love the two greeny blues more. They are very similar to Inchyra Blue by F&B. Would you go all over? I think with white shutters and white woodwork it would look stunning. Here’s a pic of Inchyra Blue so you can see how similar it is, but a little darker?

Hi Juby, It all depends on how your want your bathroom to feel? Do you want to create a slightly cocooned feeling in your bathroom or create a feeling of spaciousness. Sounds like you have some light colours going on at the moment so you could go for Cornforth White from Farrow and Ball which is quite a warm grey and will work well with pink. Hello Nadine, before choosing a paint colour for the walls various factors need to be taken into consideration first - What is the space being used for? What is the size of the space? Aspect of room - N-S-E-W (only applies if there are windows)? Lighting - If there is a window ( and depending on the aspect) as the outdoor colour temperature changes throughout the day from warm to cooler hues, the appearance of the paint colour will change, bringing out the cool or warmer under-tones of the paint. On the other hand, if solely reliant on a simulated light source, then the type of lighting will also have an impact on the colour of the paint. As there are many lighting styles and bulb types available,this is a separate area for discussion ( but one I’m happy to go into more depth with should you wish to consult with me). Existing FF&E - What will be staying and the colours/patterns/textures of these items, and which colour and finish will work best What kind of style are you looking to create? These questions are often over-looked when choosing a new paint colour, but are really important before making any decisions. My suggestion for the space you are looking to change the colour in would be to make sure that the paint colour has an element of warmth to it, as it is an ‘intimate’ and cooler space. It’s definitely important to try a ‘sample’ of the colours on ‘each’ of the walls,and check the colours throughout the day,including with a light on. With the existing Tiles and Flooring you’ve chosen, a pink shade will help to soften the space whilst creating a calm and welcoming environment. If you like F&B, Setting Plaster (dusky pink) is a lovely shade but may be a little to ‘brown’ for you, so I’m wondering if Pink Ground , which is a lighter shade, will be better for you.
