I think alignment would be a better focus rather than symmetry. For example, the drawers at the bottom lining up with the shelf divides. I would personally remove the drawers under the fire and make more of a feature of the fire place/area. There‘s a lot of dead space above the TV, could you maybe add an enclosed shelf a top-opening door? It could be in line with the top most shelf on the left. Could you paint the vent the same colour and finish as the walls to make it blend in?

As the wall is flat with no alcoves, would a media wall do the job? A great place for ideas is Pinterest and also the IKEA catalogue! This sort of thing that can be built around the tv and fireplace.
