Comments (10)I agree with your friend and to a point Pavillion Broadway. It's hard to tell without seeing the room. I wouldn't go for white gloss because it doesn't match anything. Grey as above would match the sofa and all your chrome fittings, table, lamp etc will sit lovely with it. I wouldn't buy a white and chrome lamp, it's the white that's not sitting right for me. Plain chrome to match the coffee table would be better. I agree with your friend though and keep an open mind on matching the sofa legs with a dark wood unit, otherwise they'll not tie to the room unless you had dark wood picture frames or something else with dark wood, which also works as an idea. I think the chrome coffee table will go with the dark wood, as long as you purchase something modern looking, and you could also get. Try the Dakota range at Homescapes lots of dark wood there, all shapes and sizes. Or maybe, If you still want to put some white in there to keep things light and airy to match your preference of the white and chrome lamp, then this unit from Wayfair, by Chateau Chic, as the legs are even a similar shape to those on the sofa.Chateau Chic Display Unit I also found a chrome and dark wood table lamp, you could have a grey lampshade! from Lighting at Home or the viking lamp from Dar -Viking lamp Same applies, just change the shade....See MoreRedecorating Living Room advice
Comments (8)Hi. It's quite difficult to get wood floors to work together with different plank widths, thickness, colour, grain etc. Personally I'd go for a chevron, it will make the room feel wider and I think would work well. Choose one which has one of the tones of the kitchen floor in it. If it's in budget, I quite like the design of the built in units by Cato Creatives in your ideabook. The raised storage part (which presumably would be useful) won't make the room feel any narrower as you can see the floor beneath. You could also paint behind the shelves in a darker tone to break up the long wall and disguise the tv. If the tv fits in the left alcove I'd put it there as it looks as if it would leave room for a chair where the tv currently is with a small side table? I'd add an arc lamp behind the sofa as per 3rd pic in black and brass. Depending on sofa size is there also room for a sofa table at the end of the sofa like the 3rd pic? I'd add a large round mirror over the fire and art behind the sofa. Which way does the room face as I might just go for a white with a hint of grey on the wall? If in budget I might just go for Roman blinds as they win the visually fill the room...See MoreLiving Room advice

Comments (12)Hi, I'd tone down the purple wall and bring in a large rug. Either in shades of purple, or in a grey/taupe tone that goes with the curtains and sofa. Your curtains are too short. They should (almost) touch the floor. Agree with the others that more art on the walls will give the room more personality. I would also change the ceiling light for a more modern one and add a floor lamp and a table lamp. I've added a plant too and a small table between the sofa and chair. See what you think:...See MoreSonia
