Saige composite decking

Hi,
I am considering to replace hardwood decking with saige composite decking. Has any of you used Saige? Does it still look as new after 5 years? Our builder has been using Millboard but the boards are too thick for the current structure of our terrace.

I would think you’d want to keep the hardwood.

Hardwood is expensive and should be very durable.

Why do you want to replace it?

Unfortunately, when you go for something with a lot better longevity in the decking market you have to expect to pay more. The composite deck has a much better life span. We went for something called Purple Heart, it's wood, but a sustainable source that is literally harder than rock! We had to pre-drill it just to get screws through it. However, it's never going to rot. Is there a particular reason you wanted composite? Or, like us you just don't like bog standard wood deck?

Renovation of an existing build that had been affected by flooding of the River Thames in Chertsey, Surrey. An architect took on the project to create a flood resistant property by raising the ground floor by one level adding a flood chamber underneath. Utilising our Qwickbuild aluminium structure we were able to create a balcony platform resting on timber posts. We then manufactured timber frames for the steps and completed the flooring with our Resortdeck composite decking boards. A frameless glass balustrade was then specified for both access areas running along the side of the balcony and down the steps.

Hi Emmeline, We completely agree with Aye Gardening. Softwood requires maintenance, and if you do not have the time to keep it good looking, we recommend you go for composite decking, such as Millboard. We have also seen some amazing transformation with Millboard Composite Decking, as it requires very little maintenance, it has good slip-resistance, it doesn't age, and can be used in damp areas as well - such as pool surrounds. I rejected composite decking for those very reasons. Also in America many people are suing Trek and other companies as it shows wear pretty quickly and then warps. It also doesn’t meet the guarantee period. I’m not saying don’t have it, but don’t believe the manufacturers waffle! I chose porcelain paving and Indian Sandstone in different areas of the garden. Of them all I like the sandstone best. it has a very natural finish and apart from a hose down every now and then it’s been pretty easy to look after. I found porcelain difficult to keep clean. Porcelain on lower patio, sandstone above steps.
